Chopper crew. On Chewie would be kind cool. Where would you put him?

"Chopper" costs a whopping 0 points, so we'll see plenty of him. Basically any time you have a crew slot open but no points to spend, just throw on "Chopper". Either he'll be a pointless, harmless card or you'll be glad he's there.

Only if the first damage card you take is going to be a crit. Otherwise you're just taking a damage to prevent a damage.

And if your opponent doesn't shoot the ship with Chopper, the action is wasted.

I think Chopper's one of those cards where you absolutely need that action. Like, you blocked Soontir Fel and want to get a focused R1 shot. Or you're stressed, but a Boost/Barrel Roll will take you completely out of firing arcs.

The only time when using Chopper to take an Evade action is a bad idea is when you're not going to be attacked at all.

At the very worst, it's "take a damage to avoid a damage", but it could also be "take a damage to avoid a damage with an on-hit effect", or "take a damage to block a crit", or "take a damage to stop a damage from a ship that benefits from dealing damage" and so on.

At its absolute worst, it's a 0 sum, rather than a bad move, unless you activate it when no-one's attacking you.

I wonder if anyone has really compared Electronic Baffle and the Chopper crew cards, they have somewhat similar effects after all. Each lets you take a damage to basically allow an action where you would other wised be stressed. Chopper costs 0 points, and you get to do actions no matter how much stress you have.... EB costs 1 point and lets you discard 1 stress or ion at a time and you take damage as a result.
