Corran and 2 B's:

By MAVERlCK, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey all,

Been theorycafting a little bit today and came up with quite a few builds I'm going to test.

I'd like to share this one with you:

Corran Horn (35)

VI (1)

EU (4)

FCS (2)

R2-D2 (4)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)

FCS (2)

Ion Cannon (3)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)

FCS (2)

Ion Cannon (3)

The idea is to have the B's ionizing the priority target so that Corran can easily flank and then set himself up for a double tap at Range 1 next round.

What do you guys think?

Does Corran need his targets to be ionized? Duo you not want those Bs to just be tossing out damage? I'd consider switching the ions for advanced sensors or dropping Corran's engine upgrade and putting him with naked B & X and Chardaan A.

I figure ionized targets = less pew pew aimed at Corran. It also allows for easy bumpage with my B's, denying actions. Dropping EU on Corran for some reason scares me. Thanks for the feedback.

Not bad idea.

I'd say drop FCS and ions on the B's, replace VI with PTL and put advanced Sensors on the B wings. At 98 points, you will have initiative against stresshogs and other PS 2 TLTs, even against BBBBZ. Also, B wings with advanced Sensors is amazing, nothing like barrel rolling or focusing before a 2K. I think I'd rather have a PS8 Corran that can do more actions on his double tap turn. E.g focus evade, shoot and get target lock for next attack and still have an evade if he's being shot at. Also, after he shoots he can pull a green, clear stress, regen and boost barrel roll if arc dodging is a possibility, else he can focus evade.

On the B-Wings? If so, why?

For more crits obvious.

But in general, B-Wings can get only FCS and that's enough or advanced sensors. :)

I'd say that if you exchange one B for a Stresshog or StressHobbie then you have more flexibility in what targets are vulnerable.

Yep but I prefer not to play Stresshog as I don't find them fun. Thx for the feedback though.

I like the idea of PTL on Corran. I have experience with both Adv. Sensors and FCS on B Wings and although it's true that Adv. Sensors work great, I couldn't imagine flying B's without FCS as they really improve the dmg output of the B's. Thanks for your feedback!

But have you considered Hobbie? He plays quite different compared to a stresshog.

I find VI works better on Corran than PtL if he's the highest PS in your list. You get more benefit from moving after the PS9 aces than from Push. I'd use push on him if he's playing second fiddle to a higher PS like VI Poe or Wedge but not if he's your only ace.

Corran as you have him with those 2 Bs make him an even bigger target than he already is so I'd suggest either going for all-out destructive power with focus or TL your primary weapon shots on the initial joust, supported by advanced sensors to do the same when you k-turn. You can only ion two ships a turn and if either of them are large bases you'll need both cannons to hit it for the effect to trigger, leaving the rest of your opponents' ships to harass you unmolested.

Corran, VI, EU, FCS, R2D2

Blue, FCS, AS

Blue, FCS, AS

Checks in at 98 if I'm not mistaken giving you a decent initiative bid as well.

Is that fire control system and advanced Sensors on the B's?

Yes, FCS - Fire Control System, AS - Advanced Sensors.
