Just like the title says if you don't know your local meta what would be a good all around competitive build to use to start competitive flying etc???
If you don't know you local meta what would be a good competitive list?
Any of the usual heavy hitters that are popular right now. Brobots, Palp + 2 or now 3 Aces, TLT Y, Stressbot, + Poe or Miranda, 4 Unhinged TLT's. It really comes down to flying something that you feel comfortable flying. There are so many really competitive builds right now that there are plenty of options.
Start with what you know and enjoy flying. There's no point in taking a triple K-wing list to a tournament if you've never flown it before, just because someone said it's a strong list.
Forget the meta, fly what you know, and use the experience to learn. Moreover, enjoy the experience.
Anything with tlts and regen rebels.
Regen Rebels
Poe
Red Ace
Miranda
It's good against pretty much anything.
Miranda with 3po and TLT
Y with TLT
Stressbot
Bandit squad Z
If it were me, I would take either:
TIE Fighter: Black Squadron Pilot (14)
TIE Fighter: Black Squadron Pilot (14)
TIE Fighter: Black Squadron Pilot (14)
TIE/FO Fighter: Zeta Squadron Pilot (16)
TIE/FO Fighter: Zeta Squadron Pilot (16)
TIE Bomber: Scimitar Squadron Pilot (26)
Extra Munitions (2)
Concussion Missiles (4)
Cluster Missiles (4)
Total: 100/100
Or
T-70 X-Wing: •Poe Dameron (38)
Outmaneuver (3)
•R2-D2 (4)
X-Wing: •Luke Skywalker (34)
Marksmanship (3)
•R2-F2 (3)
Y-Wing: Gray Squadron Pilot (27)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
R2 Astromech (1)
Total: 99/100
But that is just me.
I build to kill a Y with r3a2 before PS2. Most squads that do that in one round have at least a fair shake against any of the other"top tier meta" squads.

Well, you can't build to counter an unknown factor, so there's not much point in trying. If you are new to your tourney scene, the best you should hope for is to play as well as you can with ships you are most comfortable flying, and by the end of the day, regardless of how well you do, you will have a much better idea of the meta and can take advantage of that knowledge in your next tournament ![]()
