A couple other Omega Leader scenarios.

By Herowannabe, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Yet another rules thread for Omega Leader, sorry about that, but I didn't see these mentioned in any other thread.

So one scenario, two questions. The situation is, Omega Leader has a lock on Wedge. Wedge is equipped with Crackshot, and is now firing at Omega Leader.

Q1: Can Wedge force Omega Leader to roll 1 less green die when defending?

Q2: Can Wedge use Crackshot against Omega Leader?

My own thoughts: yes on both accounts. Wedge's pilot ability reduces the number of dice rolled, but doesn't actually modify the dice when they are rolled.

As for Crackshot, looking at the Rules Reference book, it makes a clear distinction between "modifying" dice and "cancelling" dice, and Crackshot specifically Cancel's a die. Likewise I would suspect that Omega Leader doesn't affect other "cancel" type cards, such as ion cannon, accuracy corrector, or Wampa.

That's what I think anyway, anyone care to confirm or disprove me?

1: Yes; changing the number of dice being rolled is not modifying dice. See also Latts Razzi, Tractor tokens, Zuckuss pilot, etc etc etc.

2: Yes. Cancelling dice is not modifying dice. Omega Leader does not prevent cancellation of dice, though in the case of Accuracy Corrector specifically, he DOES prevent the addition of the two boom results, so accuracy corrector, if used, would just result in the attack being effectively all blanks. He wouldn't affect Wampa, or any of the things like Ion Cannon which say 'on a hit, cancel all dice and then deal $damage and/or effect'

The defination of modifying dice is (paraphrasing here) "Adding, changing, or re-rolling AFTER dice have been initially rolled" So, things that happen before the dice initially roll, or during the "Compare Dice" step (Crackshot) still work vs Omega Leader.

Yes, Wedge's ability works, so does stuff like Miranda. There are even unique situations that make you go "Huh?" like the fact that crits don't become hits with HLC. Also, there are edge cases where Palpatine can affect third ship's dice.

Not paraphrasing here (Page 13 of the Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game Rules Reference from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Core Set):

Modifying Dice

Players can modify dice by spending focus, evade, and target lock tokens and by resolving card abilities. Dice can be modified in the following ways:

  • Add: To add a die result, place an unused die displaying the result next to the rolled dice. A die added in this way is treated as a normal die for all purposes and can be modified and canceled.
  • Change: To change a die result, rotate the die so that its faceup side displays the new result.
  • Reroll: To reroll a die result, pick up the die and roll it again.
  • Dice can be modified by multiple effects, but a die cannot be rerolled more than once

Disregard - wrong thread.
