Do you guys think the price of $99.95 is reasonable?
Btw i'm Australian and pre-ordering at one shop is $170 AUD

Well, $100US is fairly typical for a game of this size and complexity, and FFG produce outstanding quality components.
That said, it's a lot of money and whether it is worth it or not kinda depends on just how good the game really is.
FFGs twilight imperium is a game with a similar scope and is also $100 for the base game and I would not hesitate to recomend it (and both it's expansions) to someone who is interested in these kinds of games.
As for the Australian markup and how you guys get screwed constantly, I can't really comment.
Edited by ForgottenloreI'm a bit hesitant at the price point.
Forgottenlore , since you play these sorts of games, do you think I should think of this game primarily as a standalone game. My interest is really as a narrative campaign engine to overarch the games of X-Wing, Armada and Imperial Assault that I might be involved in, but I wonder if at $100 and the need for me to probably bastardize the game to make it work, if I'm better off doing something homebrew.
It's probably an odd question full of unknowns (and WTF?!s) for you - but, hell, you've been around for a bit. Help me think about this.
If your getting it just for that, yeah $100 is a bit pricey. It's real difficult to judge just how useful the game will be as a campaign framework without actually having it in hand and playing it. From what we have seen so far, I think it looks more suited for that purpose than I would have thought possible, if campaign framework is your only interest, if it were me, I would wait until other people get it and can report on its suitability and how much work would be needed to make everything fit.
For the record, I also think that it'll need a 6-10mm mass battle game to really work
Use a mass battle system for the ground assaults
Use Armada for the space battles
Create custom Imperial Assault scenarios for each of the missions that heroes in the board game can be sent on.
Don't see a good way to integrate X-Wing though (unless some of the hero missions would work as dogfights....?).
Once the game comes out I will definitely be getting it and looking into doing just that myself, so you may be able to get a good idea of its suitability as I struggle with the issues involved.
(I do not think it will happen....), but will they have additional expansions? As then it may not be fore the price as hind the reward...

Um... What?
As for expansions, there may eventually be one or two, but not for a couple years. The two Twilight Imperium expansions had something like 5 years between them.

We might see a Clone Wars or Sequel trilogy era expansion or version at some point, but I imagine that wouldn't be coming out anytime soon. Though who knows maybe we will see a small expansion or something with more cards and leaders at some point.
An expansion of just another side of the galaxy would be good, but that just gives more planets for the empire to find the rebel base which will also take more time. If they did this, the time/ round marker would have to be extended or more objective cards would be needed.
Quick update by the way (If you're Australian), it might be possible for the game to retail around $150 like SW Armada in some stores, but eBay has preorder prices over $200 (Due to postage from the states or Europe being around $100).
I doubt they'll expand the game in any way. Doing so totally throws off the delicate balance of the two sides.
If the game sells well, I could see them doing a Resistance game after Ep9 that tackles Ep 7-9. And then I could even see an Ep1-3 or a Clone Wars version too.
The price, as with everything, is subjective. I view it as expensive, but worthwhile.
It's a self contained 2 player epic conquest game. The balance looks good, the game mechanics sound interesting, and with FFG, you can trust that the quality will be high. On top of that, it's star wars.
When you compare it to other FFG products, it's a pretty good deal honestly. You'd be hard pressed to get the same level of play from $100 in Armada or $100 in X-wing. $100 in IA gets you only the core game, which while good, lacks the replay ability (with the same players) that you have with a game like Rebellion, and is also an expandable title which encourages you to drop even more money.
I'm not aware of any other game that creates this style of gameplay on this level for much less than $100 MSRP.

Assuming that they are, in fact, decently balanced to begin with. Twilight imperium is a game with similar price and scope, that they explicitly said they created to not need expansions. It now has 2 expansions, significant content of which has been used to address minor balance issues with the core game.

I doubt we will see an expansion with the other half of the galaxy, as the other half is the unknown regions and the map currently is meant to represent the more important systems from the franchise. Here is a map of the game's board over top of the Star Wars galaxy map with the planets in the game highlighted.
I can see some mini expansions with new objectives etc. Maybe even miniature versions of the leaders, but not likely that.
So most likely we see some new cards and maybe a small map expansion, but that is also unlikely compared to new cards.
To me this seems a lot like a Eldrich Horror. You really quicly can see all those objectives, but a mini expansion can give you so Many new objectives that the game will feel much better.
