introductory adventure

By HoloDante, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

hi,

as i am living in austria, my flgs is not participating in the emporer's decree event :-(

it is very important to me that i have a short adventure to play for my new players, to get the feel of the system and to be able to decide upon which careers to choose.

my point being: is the demo adventure going to be downloadable after the event? so i have something to play right out of the box except the adventure included in the core set?

It would be nice if they would do that.

One question, though: why don't you just run the adventure in the core set when you get it?

I would expect the demo adventure to become available. It might not be available until after launch (or it might be available earlier,, who knows) but FFG has a trend for posting them online.

As the release of the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay Core Set draws closer, the current plans are to eventually make A Day Late, a Shilling Short available for download.

However, physical copies of the demo adventure have been furnished to stores participating in the Emperor's Decree event, and more will be made available soon. I'd encourage folks to contact their local store to learn more.

Excellent.

That is good to hear I plan on inviting my group to a taster session using the launch event fliers once I have the core set. Can't find anyone running the pre release in my neck of the woods. (UK - North West)

So if anyone knows of any please let me know.

Cheers

Andy

Excellent,

I am way excited to be participating in this adventure at the local hobby shop and equally excited that this adventure will be available for me to run with my group if and when I decide to go purchase this system.

Andy- where abouts in the North West are you? Anywhere near the Wirral?

Cheers,

Dave

Hi Dave,

I am kind of in the North West of the UK and close to the Wirral (Sort of).

I Live on the Isle of Man so it is a bloody long swim across.

If you ever come this way look me up and we could meet up.

That's exactly what I was talking about. Many fans of the system from many countries won't get the chance of playing WFRP3 at Emperors Decree becouse there FLGS hasn't ordered the copy of the system. That's the reason why FFG should publish the demo adventure A Day Late, a Shillint Short as a downloadable pdf on the site.

Please FFG make it a free pdf on WFRP Support site! :)

Having read through this adventure twice I can tell you that it is certainly more of a "demo" adventure than an "introductory" adventure. It was obviously designed as a two/three hour showcase of the basic rules, not as a the kickoff to a campaign. I'm not saying that it's bad or anything, in fact I'm glad it's so simple because I wouldn't have had time to prep for anything bigger... but the intro adventure in the core set looks to have a lot more meat on it.

To be fair, if you look at the Oldenhaller contract, it spends a great deal of time taking you through different rules and explaining how they work, and that is a classic.

I was not dogging Day Late in any way. It does exactly what it sets out to do. I just don't want people putting too much into it. It not nearly as long or as detailed as the Oldenhaller contract. I mean, it can't be... its designed to be run with very little prep in a two/three hour time frame at a store demo.

Today I heard from my FLGS that they will not run a demo becouse they did not get the core set on time. Maybe in the next weekend as soon as the core set comes. So please FFG publish the demo adventure.

I'm not putting to in to it but it just like this:

I'ma a huge fan of WFRP and I would like to have all what comes to it. So I would like to have the demo adventure as well. I think that I'm not the only one who want to see it. So please FFG publish the A Day Late, a Shiling Short scenario on the page.

There's one more reason why publishing the demo adventure would be good:

it's a great adventure for the start like I heard so the players can learn and understand the rules.

So FFG please give us (fans from all over the world) the oportunity to read it and in the future to play A Day Late, a Shilig Short adventure.

Hello,

Is there any chance we could download the introductory adventure soon or not ?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that the main rulebook in the Core Set also includes decent-sized introductory adventure (different from the demo we all just played) like most other RPGs.

Yes, the core set does have an intro adventure in the Tome of Adventure. And that adventure is much more substantial than the adventure ran at the pre-release event. The pre-release adventure was really just 2 encounters meant to help new players learn the mechanics.

Not all of us got the chance to play it so it would be nice from FFG if they would publish the demo adventure "A Day Late, a Shiling Short".

The Tome of Adventure has a scenario to play but still one more would be nice, even if the demo adventure is only about 2 encounters and nothing more. I Think that this demo is a good scenario for the first session of WFRP3 and gives the players the first rule to understand the machanics.

So please FFG publish the demo adventure fros Emperors Decree event.

They definitely WILL publish it (in PDF format) once the the game itself hits store shelves.

I'm anxious too, dude! Let's be patient! It's hard, I know. gran_risa.gif

Definitly want to put my support behind getting the demo adventure as at my pre event we didn't have access to it.

(Long story short the demo person messed up walked in and said 'oh here is the box have fun' and left).

Still had fun but it was two of the people coming to try the game tried to teach from the adventure in the box set.
