Juke on Corran?

By theninthguardian, in X-Wing

Anyone else considered it? I figure if Corran activates Juke for his first shot (and his target is forced to spend its focus) that will leave your opponent far more vulnerable to his second attack.

Or is PtL considered mandatory as otherwise he can't arc-dodge as well?

In the matches where you can line up a range one double tap where Corran isn't getting shot at, Juke + FCS will be incredible. In a lot of other matches Juke may leave something to be desired

With all of the PS9 and PS10 arc dodgers around, there's a good chance that Corran will need to spend his evade token before his attack. If I was going to put Juke on Corran, I'd consider a Shield Upgrade instead of the Engine Upgrade. Using the Engine Upgrade competes with the action needed for Juke, while the Shield Upgrade gives Corran a little more leeway to eat some damage (that can be regened) instead of spending his evade token.

Corran w/Juke + FCS + Shield + R2-D2 might be fun to play and could probably be effective with seome practice.

It is hard to pass up some of the consistently solid EPT choices though:

VI gives Corran the ability to be a high PS arc dodger.

PTL allows him to turtle up and also makes him more manueverable.

Predator makes sure he can modify both attacks without taking actions or needing FCS.

Juke is pretty solid on things that can both take Evade tokens and make multiple attacks whilst holding them, especially if they have high initiative to be sure of having the token when they attack, but in many cases the apportunity cost of taking the Evade action every round is too high, especially when you consider what you could have got instead with the slot.

I suspect in most cases Corran would be better off with VI or PTL.
