It looks like the guy that was going to GM the game I was joining has gone cold on the idea of running a campaign 
I am really keen to play Star Wars (EotE, F&D or AoR) so I thought I would put it our there to see if there are any games in Sydney looking for another player? PM me if you don't want to broadcast here.

What kind of group were you looking for?
There's a few groups in the area that I'm aware of, though they vary in age and style.
Furthermore, I believe some of the Good Game stores have Star Wars nights where the FFG Star Wars RPGs are played.
It rather depends upon where in Sydney you are.
As per above.... what kind of group are you looking for?? Also, what area of Sydney.
I run a group in Green Valley, range in ages from 21 to 45yolds. Play every fortnight on a Saturday. if interested let me know.
There is also the option of playing online if you can't find a face to face group. Check out Roll20 or Fantasy Grounds to see if there are groups looking for players.

Admittedly, It is hard down here in Aussieland. I can attest to the lack of available materials being a hindrance for some members of my group and others in my area - There's no Star Wars RPG dice left in the country after I cleaned out six packs of them from a store in the city four months ago to top up my groups' collection.
The only available option for dice at the moment - if you're very lucky - is to buy a beginners' box!
Anyways, back to the topic at hand - There's a few Sydney groups available, ranging from the Shire region of the Eastern Suburbs to a new group that's just looking to start up down Woollongong way. I know that there's a few gaming locations that have regular game nights - but whether they've ongoing campaigns, I couldn't rightly say.
Depending on what it is you're looking for, I could put out a few recommendations.

I am in the inner suburbs, so central or eastern would be best. I have been playing for over 20 years, so an older group would probably be better. I prefer not to play online. Have tried before, and it misses the vibe you get with all around the same table.
Let me know if there is a spare seat. I run a fortnightly session for another game, so I am happy to offer a spot there in return

Sydney has a population of over 4 million, so I think the odds are probably better here...I believe Boston isn't even 1 million!
EDIT: Ooops. Greater Boston is about the same as Sydney, my bad Good luck!
