Dodonna the Oppressor

By Lyraeus, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I've played a list like this list as well, it's brutal. Went for torpedo MC30, no Intel officer ( they don't need it) no TLRC, played for first player ( to get my MC30 in and out). I am thinking about playing MM mainly to give security against Rymer/fire balls.

This will sound mean but trust me it is not.

If you used Torpedoe Frigates then it was nothing like this list.

The list is meant to push damage through with the TRC's, using Dodonna as a huge threat. With every ship running Intel Officer and Turbolaser Reroute Circuits, you are consistently getting a minimum of 10 damage on a ship that is being focused by all of your ships.

Intel Officer is to force them into a hard place with taking damage from upwards of 5 attacks or burning a token for good, maybe even 2 of 3 tokens in a single turn.

Late game (turn 6), Intel Officer does not do much but that is fine.

I see what you mean, the use of the scout frigate TRC/Intel officer creates a totally different play to the torp frigate.

Exactly that!

Your Style with the Torpedo Frigate is in line with how Iskander4000 builds and plays.

The Scout Frigate let's me push damage from the get go. Front arc, side arc, or rear I get damage flying out.

The Torpedo Frigate while great requires you to get in close and can not garentee the damage. That is the ultimate downside but that downside is 13 points cheaper than my TRC Scout Frigate

I love the idea of Intel Officer on every ship. Then coupled with Turbolaser Reruit Circuit on a ship with two evades is quite creative and looks like a blast to play. The you add Dodonna. Nice.

I'd like to know how you think the Intel Officer worked in your tournament? How often did it affect the game, how often did your opponent choose not to use a token and took extra damage.

I have been playing a corvette list and I will be trying this out soon. Thanks for the ideas.

You have to be smart with Intel Officer. You don't use it on the brace every time. Let's say you are dealing 5 damage and an accuracy, you accuracy one of the redirects and Intel Officer the other.

If it is your first attack on that ship you select the brace if that ship does not have another attack. This way they use one of their redirects or evades when the second ship attacks you Intel Officer the unused double token.

This limits your opponents use of TRC's and the ability to redirect.

I don't have all the pieces to make this list, so I was thinking of running something similar. High bid for initiative so I can go first.

Whatcha think?

Have you considered taking Jainas Light and Intell Sweep? I feel like that should be an auto win for the rebel player with the bonus 75pts, but has anyone ever actually played it?

What about Jaina's Light with Engine Techs and Intel Sweep? I just want to run a ship that goes speed five. . .

Would like to try this list but general at the store there no poxies. And i only have 3 TLR and three intell. Might go x17 on the mc30 not sure where to place the intell officer. Either on the mc30s and one cr90 or on the three cr90

Hmmm I would put the 3 on the CR90's have them fully loaded. Hmmmm Add in some YT-2400's.

It is no longer an auto win for Rebels. My list is also about keeping the points low.

How much use was the Admonition title? Seems like it might be worth dropping to help guarantee turn choice.

Yep the imps now have fast cheap ships as well.......

I like the list Lyr. I feel like you should try to work it into forum posts as often as possible, to get the word out.

But don't, like overdo it. Maybe two mentions a day, tops?

As a frequent MC30 player and someone who won a store championship with a similar list in early February (same ships, mostly same load out, but Mon Mothma instead, less intel officer), I can attest that Admonition is better than Foresight against all comers. If you know you won't see any Xi7s ever, then sure, Foresight is better. But when almost every ship can and does take XI7s, I will take Admonition any day of the week, especially since it cancels dice even when your tokens are shut down.

You can also slap on advanced shields jobbes as well, it's one of the few ship builds where they still have a use.

Admonition is also great at keeping that last hull point vs bombers.

I finally had the opportunity to play this type of list on Friday night.

I ran 3 CR90's and Foresight built exactly as the OP listed. I did include sqadrons because I love them. I ran Han solo, 3 YT-2400's and 2 Awing. The fleet dominated the table. I killed a VSD, a GSD, 2 Raiders, and 100 pts in Squadrons. I only lost 1 CR-90, with Dodonna it of course, and both Awings. Granted My opponent and I are new players, so he wasn't quite ready for this list. I think he will be better prepared next time. But we both agreed it is an effective combo if ships and upgrades.

The Intel officers were a royal pain to my opponent and the TRC's added so many hits. Being able to do so many hits from long range with CR90's was very effective.

Thanks Lyraeus

Tired it and general my ships dont last long. Really looking at reiken or mon montha

If the list is not working for you check the order you activate things in and then check the commands you are giving.

I like to give my MC30s an engineering command and then navigates. My CR90's get Navigates almost exclusively. The only time they get a concentrate fire command is when I am in a good position to hit last and first or my positioning is in good order.

Try and limit yourself from getting into situations where while going first you will leave multiple ships vulnerable at medium range or closer.

Be daring in your attacks but not silly. Above all else, practice, practice, practice.

This list is MEAN I have played Similar lists several times it dishes out damage fast. We refer to it as the GLASS CANNON. The only fear I have when playing is that my opponent has 110+ points in squads or rouges. I have beaten Heavy Bomber builds with it but have yet to face a 5 firesprays or 5 B-wings I think they would eat it alive any thoughts or tips to fight a swarm like that with this list?

I think I'd like to test my three VSD Tarkin squadron list against this one. I have about ten or twelve Bombers/Rhymer/Advanceds, which is a lot of black dice at Medium range. They could easily burn down a Corvette each round, with some dice to spare, and Advanced Comms with a squadron speed of Four means they could jump from ship to ship pretty quickly. The real concern for me would be the MC30cs. I'd probably have to send the bombers into those first, as they have a much higher damage potential.

Been playing this list for the last few weeks. Wreaks havoc. Obliterates anything in close range. I'm talking one ship dual attack killing large ships in one activation if done correctly. For instance you hit a full perfect broadside against an untouched mc80. If you're lucky you can get APT to proc a shield failure card, and now you have another exposed hull for the second attack. With APT you get to choose to not resolve the standard crit and then resolve the card instead, adding another damage (face up) to what was already being inflicted AND cannot be nullified by contain. This list is stupid. I love it.

Bombers worry me but not as much as people think.

It is a mean list. It is aggressive, can pull out wins in unfavorable circumstances and can easily ship larger ships of the capacity to fight.

The trick is getting to know when you use Intel Officer.
