Deathrain's [Gene Belcher's] Cluster Jam

By Zechsword, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Since I've recently obtained a handful of Tie Punishers to build a completely different list, I have found I'm being more and more attracted to the idea littering the board with mines. With the following list, If all goes as planned, by round 4 the battlefield should have about 12 mine tokens splayed out, forcing the opponent to carefully move around asteroids and bombs:

100pts

"Deathrain" (38)

Enhanced Scopes

Extra Munitions

Cluster Mines

Conner Net

Twin Ion Engine Mk. II

Cutlass Squadron Pilot (31)

Extra Munitions

Cluster Mines

Proximity Mines

Twin Ion Engine Mk. II

Cutlass Squadron Pilot (31)

Extra Munitions

Cluster Mines

Proximity Mines

Twin Ion Engine Mk. II

As mines are "Action:"s, I decided to go with the Twin Ion Engines to more easily shred stress that may be thrown at me by the opponent. Since Cutlass Squadron Pilot was already PS2, I didn't feel that Enhanced Scopes were necessary.

Dont forget to obtain adicional Cluster Mine markers. With EM it is embarassing to run dry of markers after some turns of mining.

That probably is the biggest problem with the list :D Try to directly hit people with them, that saves you tokens. You could also swap one Punisher for a Bomber with Honig Missiles and Proton Bombs to mix it up a bit. You are going to have some frustrating matches, but playing with mines is pretty fun.

I was planning on picking up some additional Cluster Mine and Proximity Mine tokens: with the number of Punishers I have it would only require an additional two of each to be able to lay every single one out even with Extra Munitions. But that is a great point!
