Partners in crime for Dengar

I've been experimenting with Dengar lately and I have found a build I'm very happy with:

Jumpmaster 5000: Dengar (33 + 27)

+ Push the Limit (3)

+ Flechette Torpedoes (2)

+ K4 Security Droid (3)

+ Glitterstim (2)

+ Unhinged astromech (1)

+ Punishing One (12)

+ Engine Upgrade (4)

Glitterstim and Flechette Torps are mainly point fillers and can go.

What I'm struggling with is filling the remaining 40-44 points.

At first I tried 4-LOM, but I didn't work out very well. Can't seem to trigger his ability consistently, which means Zuckuss is probably a better choice for 1 extra point.

ATM I'm struggling to decide between 2 variants:

Variant 1 (37 points)

G-1A Starfighter: Zuckuss (28 + 9)

+ Veteran Instincts (1)

+ Fire Control System (2)

+ Boba Fett (1)

+ Mist Hunter (0)

+ Engine Upgrade (4)

+ Tractor Beam (1)

Variant 2 (38 points)

Y-wing: Syndicate Thug (18 + 8)

+ Twin Laser Turret (6)

+ R4 Agromech (2)

Z-95: Binayre Pirate (12)

What do you think? Which of the above would complement Dengar better? Should I go for something else altogether.

Variant 2 will have more staying power simply because you have more ships. Zuckuss is certainly scary but I'd be very worried about TLT shots - the G-1A Starfighter still has the B-wing problem of being a ship that's not too hard to kill and very few defensive options. A Guri with the same amount of points will last just as long and still be able to dish out damage.

I've been toying with adding in a YV-666 of some kind. Moralo is pretty expensive but Bossk could see some play. He has the PS and ability to really be a terror and you give your opponent the tough choice of ignoring the end-game nightmare that is Fat Dengar or weather the ridiculous amount of damage bossk can push out while you hunt down a boosting, barrel-rolling PS9 turret.

Hmm, could let's say a Bossk with Calculation (or VI), Gunnner, Boba and 4-LOM (43 points total) be an option then? Could also add Maneuvering Fins or change 4-LOM to Outlaw Tech.

Tried Dengar with Zuckuss tonight vs an imperial 3 ship list (Epsilon Ace, Whisper with Decoy and PtL Inquisitor). Zuckuss was...mixed:, fairly unimpressive but I also rolled horribly with him (never got past 2 hits on his 4 dice, even with TL). On the other hand, I did get shots with him consistently, and it did grab the enemy's attention.

With that exact build (sans Flehette Torpedoes in favor of an initiative bid) I planned on pairing:

Guri (30)

+ Virago (1)

+ Push the Limit (3)

+ Cloaking Device (2)

+ Fire-Control System (2)

+ Stygium Particle Accelerator (2)

As long as The Device™ holds, Guri can:

  1. De-cloak
  2. Get a free Evade action
  3. PtL to Boost/Barrel Roll
  4. Do a green maneuver
  5. Clear Stress
  6. Do a Boost/Barrel Roll into range 1 of someone
  7. Get a free Focus token
  8. Attack
  9. Get a free Target Lock

If that doesn't sound fun, then I don't know why you're playing X-Wing. ;)
