Empire vrs y wing+tlt ... Tips?

By DarthBatman, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So played a 100 or game the other day - the rebels I played against brought a few Y wings with twin lazer turrets. And it completly wrecked me. Vader went down before even getting a shot. Soontir got sniped at long range, lost his stealth device and next turn got turned into a fine spread of dusted particles. The rest of my army fared no better. The best I could manage in return was a few dents in the shields.

So how does the empire deal with this? The number of shots and the double attack is scary. The only thing I can think of is literally hope for good green dice and evade actions / palp. But that doesn't even work - it only stops 2 red dice at best. Not enough to keep something alive. And I'm. Or sure getting into and staying in range 1 is a viable option. Plus arc dodging dosent work since it's a turret.

I'm at a loss here.

What else did he had in his list? What list did you used?

TLT is not that scary if you can get into R1 like you said. Else if you have AT, get out of main arc, that's an evade for you. If you at range, hide behind a rock, that's another green dice. And focus fire his TLT.One down, he will have hard time.

You frakked something up.

Soontir with autos is natural counter to TLTs. If you stay out of arc (you DID stayed out of arc, right?) you need just one evade (assuming he rolls 2 hits per average) to nullify this shot. 1 evade on 4 dice. Just stay out of arc with him that is absolute nessesity. If you can say hello at them at range 1 to nullify one tlt.

Vader should AT least do something before going down so i presume another mistake here. Vader vs tlt should open ahead of those tlts with 5S, boost and TL and maybe shot at turn 1 or turn 2. With Vader positioning at range 1 easily you should be able to kill at least 1 y with him alone before he goes down. I was at the receiving end of vader played this way vs 2tlt ys. He killed both alone.

How many tlts he had?

What was the rest of your list?

He had a fat Han, the other freighter with lando, and some other stuff, and the single y wing. Vrs my deci, Vader, fel and a basic phantom. (Apologies we played about 150)

I was able to get Vader up close and out of arc, and dinged a few shields off him. but Han and that lazer turret made short work. The first volley removed my evade and burned palp, his second roll finished me off. So Vader got a single round of shooting that didn't do anything serious.

The decimater was simaler although taking a few more turns. I did take out lando. That tlt plus Han/Luke just kept pounding me.

Fel did avoid shots for a few turns untill a bad defense dice and I lost the stealth device. From there it was over quick.

Phantom went last but was same story.

All the 360 shoot you, remove defences, then shoot you again thing is harsh. (Generally Han shoots does his thing with Luke sapping any evade tokens or other abilities then the tlt kicks in and puts on the pain)

So then your problem wasn't actually the TLT, it was Han.
