How best to improve my Rebels squad?

By ImperialCaptain2017, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi everyone,

I am a relatively new and casual player, but I'm also a cheapskate.

I have an idea running for a Rebellion squad, and I'm not sure how best to finish it.

Here is my plan so far:

Corran Horn — E-Wing 35

Determination 1

Advanced Sensors 3

Flechette Torpedoes 2

R7-T1 3

Ship Total: 44

Biggs Darklighter — X-Wing 25

Proton Torpedoes 4

R2-D2 4

Ship Total: 33

I thought it might be good to get either a B-wing or a Y-wing. Which one do you think would be better, and how can I (affordably) improve my list?

I would say add a Bwing with Advanced Sensors. It should fit no problem and potentially even be a unique pilot.

Corran isn't getting much use out of Determination with only 2 Hull. Flechette and Proton Torpedoes are OK, but there are a number of cards that have come out or are coming out to make them more worthwhile. R2-D2 is also capable of doing a lot more work on Corran than Biggs. Here's what you can do with the addition of a B-Wing:

Corran Horn (35)

+ R2-D2 (4)

+ Marksmanship (3)

+ Fire-Control System (2)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)

+ Advanced Sensors (3)

+ Ion Cannon (3)

Biggs Darklighter (25)

+ R2-F2 (3)

Corran has an extremely potent offense, since Marksmanship can affect both his attacks, and Fire-Control System can provide a Target Lock for the second. R2-D2 gives him survivability after Biggs has done his job. R2-F2 on Biggs it OK if he's going to be shot a bunch of times in the same round. Advanced Sensors on the B-Wing give it added maneuverability with a pre-move Barrel Roll, and you'll never be without actions even when doing red moves. The Ion Cannon gives you a control option.

Not too bad for just the Core, E-Wing, and B-Wing if I do say so myself!
