Nah, there should be a special ability if attached to Aragorn ![]()
Sugoi!
EDIT: I'll probably include three of these for when my Saga Fellowship gets to The Uruk-Hai.
Edited by Kakita ShiroSeems really cool! And the artwork is spectacular! My first thought I guess would be something like Glorfindel + Gandalf...Though my deck building imagination is limited. I'm sure others will come up with more interesting combos.
It is an interesting card. There will obviously need to be much more support than this to make it work but it is a good start, I feel.
First off, by having 2 heroes instead of three, you are losing a resource and an action (in the basic terms, of course there is more in fact, like the impossibility of having a 3-sphere right off the start). Then this Strider card (if you draw it, and pay the resource for it) will give you an action back.
Naturally, it shouldn't be hard to create a secrecy deck with only 2 heroes (I am not even considering one right now). On the other hand, for the Strider attachment, you want a hero with at least 2 decent actions, one of them being questing.
If one is to succeed in such a deck, I am afraid (though I love the card not less for being so strong) Spirit Glorfindel might once again be key. As you can find a very strong hero to create 16 or 17 starting threat line-up, and with Elrond's Counsel probably not having to worry about losing the secrecy discount throughout most of games.
I am certainly looking forward to seeing more such support, as any fresh approach to deck-building is welcomed here.
But Glorfindel already has LoV.
For some reason, this card looks like a custom made one to me. perhaps the square corners.
Is this from the upcoming saga set?

No, it's apparently in The Drowned Ruins (the 4th pack). Mr. Newman also let on that there will be at least one other card this cycle supporting this kind of archetype; I think it was the preview article for Flight of the Storm-chaser that explicitly mentioned this, so probably there...?
Edited by sappidusGlorfinfel and Cirdan duo just got real. Throw in OhaUh Gandalf and that's 13 willpower without exhausting anyone. You could even get really crazy and try to get Gandalf into play using Narya's icon and Timely Aid.
Even with three heroes, in an attachment deck 1 resource for ongoing +2 will power seems worth it...cheaper and more plentiful Celebrian's stone.
I love it.
Because it is neutral I think it fits best on a tactics hero. Yet tactics has no secrecy. The best secrecy decks are leadership, so maybe Prince Imrahil. Treebeard would make a fun Strider.
Seems like it'd have some use in a Caldara deck, when she's out of play.
I love it. That's a really strong effect if you meet the very restrictive criteria, which is the way it should be (unlike many of the secrecy cards).

Yes, but I meant it for the other hero. If you indeed put 2 Noldor/Silvan ones, Glorfindel can get either Light or Strider, depending what comes first, and the other what comes second. Círdan is indeed a good candidate, though he likes allies, and Strider sort of supports an attachment heavy decks. On the other hand, three strong allies just might be enough...

This is actually very true. I usually dislike having cards in a deck that can obviously not fulfill their potential but I now have just the attachment deck where this would be great.
Wouldn't Strider be quite good for dain? I know dwarves work best with loads of them but you still qualify for the 5 or more dwarves effect while still keeping to strider.
Ninja twins just got real. ![]()
Ninja twins just got real.
You really think so? O hope you are right as I really like the idea of playing a twins only deck. It would add to their awesome action advantage, but I feel like it'd still be too light on questing power...?
I love it
In a way it devalues Winged Foot if you are primarily thinking of Aragorn as the target.
Thanks Matt and the Greyco for the spoiler!
When the Flight of the Stormcaller announcement article mentioned that it would "support decks designed to run with fewer than three heroes," I messaged Matt Newman to ask how those cards would work with decks running two normal heroes and one saga hero. He answered:
Unfortunately it's a bit late to make any changes to the cards, so they'll be printed as they are. Besides, we tend to keep certain saga considerations separate when making cards for the cycle (and occasionally vice-versa) – it might be confusing for somebody picking up a cycle pack to see bilbo and fellowship symbols if they've never played the saga before.
That being said, if you want to play those cards in that way (2 or less non-bilbo/non-fellowship heroes) you have my blessing to play them that way.
Yes, that is a good idea. They could even add it to FAQ, that way there would be no problem with the "new player confusion".
Ninja twins just got real.
I believe you are correct. The twins have always worked best with a deck light on allies.
It really puts to shame Celebrian's Stone.
CS is an early-game attachment I always found, and though it's still active when you have 5 or more characters, it cost 1 resource more, demands access to the leadership sphere AND it is RESTRICTED.
As much as I don't like when a new card make an old card irrelevant, I must admit that this card is amazing. Thematic win and clever action advantage. I was desperately trying these days to go Sam-Frodo against the Passage of the Marshes, and I think this could really help.
