Just a quick question- Are multiple squadrons engaged by one squadron if they are all within distance one, or is only one squadron engaged. I have been playing that all squadrons are engaged, but i was not sure if i am playing it correctly. Thanks for your help!
Question about Engagement
Everyone that is within distance 1 of you is Engaged .
Everyone who is within distance 1 of you is Engaging you .
The only exceptions are if there is an Obstacle/Obstruction between You and an Enemy Squadron. There is no engagement in that instance.
For Example, when Mauler Mithel finishes his movement, he deals one damage to everyone he Engages...
So if he flies up and gets within distance 1 of 6 Enemy Squadrons, and one who is behind the tip of an asteroid, he will deal his 1pt of Damage to the 6 open Squadrons, but not the guy hiding...
Those 6 Enemy Squadrons can fire at him when they activate, and are stopped from moving (unless there is another rule in play).
The Hidden squadron CAN move, and it CAN fire at Mauler if it wants, although it will lose one die on its attack due to obstruction...
Learning how to Use/Abuse/Ignore Engagement is one of the steps towards fully utilising Squadrons. So if you were playing with one being able to engage everyone , you're already prepared and on the right track

Dr Dras dealing out rules advice since 2005!
Dear Doctor, my critical effects never go off, my opponent has convinced me that we skip step 7 when I attack him. What should I do? You are my last best hope.

Well, let me see.
If I remember correctly, you - and thus, most likely, your opponent - like me, are Australian.
Ergo, this is most probably best resolved with stating the rules position calmly and matter-of-factly, and then answering any nay-saying with a Nut-Punch.
Repeat as Needed.
So I negotiate like a Jedi?
It is the most entertaining and satisfying way to Negotiate, after all.
With all this talk of Australian means of Negotiation I give you:
