Decimator + Mini FO Swarm

By dramagod2, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm relatively new to X-wing (played for a bit a year or so ago and have only just gotten back into it) and I've been trying to come up with fun and fluffy imperial list that could still be a little competitive. I like the idea of using a mini swarm as it seems so much more classic imperial than just a single tie like the phantom to compliment the decimator. I've played a few variations of this list and they seemed to do pretty well, though my opponent was also new. I did bring a similar list using 4 academy pilots and a more barebones decimator to a tournament and it didn't do to badly. I finished in the middle of the pack and 2 of my 3 games were extremely close. I haven't tried it with the seismic charges but I have with antipursuit lasers and they were ok but Ion projectors also look promising.

Any thoughts? C&C welcome. Thanks!

I actually really like Weapons Guidance on grunt Tie FOs. It increases the chance of getting two hits from like 56.25% to 81.25% (assuming you didn't spend the focus defensively).

If you're committed to those ships, maybe:

PILOTS

Epsilon Squadron Pilot (17) x 3
TIE/fo Fighter (15), Weapons Guidance (2)

Captain Oicunn (49)
VT-49 Decimator (42), Predator (3), Ysanne Isard (4)

I'm not opposed to weapons guidance but my main issue is lack of the card as I only have 1. I think i prefer comms relay too as well as it keeps them around pretty well. I have toyed with predator on the decimator but I don't think I would field it without gunner. IMO, the extra attack from gunner after the first one whiffs has been majorly beneficial in my games. Also, I've run ysanne isard with vader as she mitigates his slow roll destruction of your own ship, But is she as necessary when you're just using it as a tank?
