The Bantha is my master now

Ok - so I'm maybe going dangerously off the deep end in my love of the Bantha, but - What about giving him an honour guard?

That's right- that's don't mess with the GENERAL'S Bantha. It will **** you up.

(A slightly less silly alternate is to ditch ONE pair of Royal Guards and General's Ranks for a set of Snowtroopers.

Ummm... The General's Ranks is an imperial upgrade. Can you use that on the Bantha Rider? I thought upgrades were faction specific regardless of which other factions are in your list.

As soon as I posted this I realised this might be the case. I just figured since the text didn't say 'imperial figure only' - but yeah. The giant Imperial emblem should have been a clue. :P

OK - let's ignore my error above (I am gutted the General's Personal Bantha isn't something FF Games are willing to accept.)

This is the list I'm welcoming critique of.

Bantha Rider given more survivability by a Royal Guard escort. These throw stun and ensure key figures can't escape the Bantha trample.

Snowtroopers are a great, strong point holding card even if you've only got one. Reinforcements and Grenadier in the list always worth it.

Officers are throwing extra Bantha move, as well as being used to pop 'regroups' to clear stun from the Bantha if needed.

Just remember that RG's only protect the space next to them. So there are options to hitting that bantha without extra defence.

I think generals ranks can be placed on a Bantha in the first list shown.

I could be wrong, but I thought since they're in the imperial list, they can take the imperial attachment cards.

That's good to know - didn't realise that!

in that case: If you had an enemy "X" firing at guards and Bantha in this orientation - could the attacker take advantage of the 'Massive doesn't block LOS' quality to target the back two tiles of the figure?

Or - does a Bantha 'block' it's own subsequent tiles

The bantha does not block his spaces. So the attacker could attack the last row of the bantha. But remember he has to declare the target fiel when declaring the attack and needs the 2 additional range.

Short of positioning a royal guard on either side of the bantha so ALL of his six tiles are adjacent, there will always be an unprotected square for them to attack.

Still, protecting the front and forcing enemies to target rear squares could screw them on accuracy.

Read the royal guard card, they only protect the adjacent space, not the adjacent figure.

When you attack a large figure you have to say where you're attacking it. This is important for line of sight, accuracy, blast, sentinel, distracting, etc.
