Dengar has the ability to return fire after being attacked. Gunner states that after you perform an attack that does not hit, you may immediately perform a primary weapon attack. You cannot perform another attack this round. What I am curious about is, would gunner negate his ability to counter attack if gunner triggered in his "normal" attack?
Dengar and gunner interaction

Yes. If dengar shoots, misses and uses gunner, then someone else shoots him later, he doesn't get to shoot back. If you DON'T use gunner on dengar's attack and someone shoots you, you shoot back and miss, you can use gunner on that attack.
As the cards read and the rules stand....
yes.

That... that sounds nasty.
Dengar is going to be rough to deal with, I can already feel it. Ions and "arc" dodging, that's gonna have to be how you deal with him.
Going to need to make a token to remind people about that. I could see it being overlooked.
Same as Gunner + Cluster / TLT.
Therefore, generally considered an antisynergy.

Just use the "Weapons Disabled" tokens from the K-Wing.
We've had the same interaction with TLT and Corran-style effects already, and it's enough of a problem on Huge ships that they tend to avoid Gunner to start with.
Shouldn't be too hard to track.
Remember that Gunner states at the end you cannot make another attack for the rest of that round. So if you used gunner at Dengar's ps 9 and get a chance to make a counter attack gunner will take precedence and prevent you from using Dengar's ability. Same if you used gunner on a counter attack and another attack from inside your firing arc comes later.
I kind of like this, Dengars ability does force you to pick your gunner triggers carefully.
Dengar + Gunner is a great way to make your attacks count out of arc, and trick your opponent to attack Dengar instead of another ship while Dengar's in arc.
Or you could run something other than Gunner. Just saying. ![]()
I'm not so sure Gunner is the best choice on Dengar if you plan on flying him in usual PWT fashion. His ability is pretty sweet, though, and with his high PS could ensure token strippage.
Also, petition to call Dengar + Gunner 'Gengar.'

It was Haunter before you traded the idea to me.
Dengar's ability "Once per round after defending, if the attacker is inside your firing arc, you may perform an attack against that ship." Dengar is a level 9 PS, if he's killed does he still get to perform an attack after defending?
After.
So no.
After.
So no.
Normally, but let's present a scenario.
PS9 Dengar is attacked by PS9 Soontir Fel. The Imperial player has initiative.
PS9 Soontir Fel inflicts enough damage to kill Dengar. However, Soontir is in Dengar's firing arc. Dengar is destroyed, but now there are two timing windows open: his "after defending" window, and the simultaneous fire rule.
Since the ship is destroyed, but gets to make another attack and is technically not off the table yet, would Dengar's ability kick in immediately after defending, THEN the simultaneous fire is resolved? I feel like this case would allow Dengar to make two attacks in a row before going down.

Well, we already have precedent with IG-88A. He cannot recover a shield under simultaneous fire rule until the other ship had a chance to attack. Therefore that means the ship is technically not destroyed under simultaneous fire until it has a chance to attack itself. So, according to that, Dengar would be able to attack twice, once and first as a retaliation, then his normal attack phase.
If Dengar has gunner that triggers off his ability, could he use that gunner attack to be shooting at ships outside his arc now?
If Dengar has gunner that triggers off his ability, could he use that gunner attack to be shooting at ships outside his arc now?
Yes, because Gunner reads "you may immediately perform a primary weapon attack," and a turreted ship's primary weapon allows you to fire outside of the printed firing arc.
If Dengar has gunner that triggers off his ability, could he use that gunner attack to be shooting at ships outside his arc now?
Secondly depending on ememy PS, you can allow your other ships to strip tokens from primary target before your vengeance shot triggers and hopefully gunners.
Lastly, the way Dengar is worded you can use secondary weapon (Flechette Torpedoes) for his retribution strike. Fudge the attack to put stress on 'in arc' target (munitions failsafe) THEN attack primary target...

So Simultaneous rule only occurs with same PS level pilots? If a level 5 pilot kills Dengar, he cannot use his card's ability to fire back before he dies?
Rules As Written, yes.

Just to make sure everyone is on the same page though, Dengar's counterattack is once per round. So if you used gunner on a counterattack and another attack came from inside your firing arc later, you wouldn't get to counterattack anyway.
Dengar with Deadeye, Proton Torp, Extra Munitions, GC, and Recon Spec can fire a Torpedo at someone with good results, but then fire another one in his defensive action, as well. ...then he's out of ammo.
