So the wife has released funds for me to buy something....one thing and I wonder what to get.
Imp star destroyer or MC80? To combat my buddies imp and give the rebels some power.

What do you currently have? And what is your playstyle....
Go with the one that you are more likely to play, if you still can't decide, go with the bigger ticket ISD, as the spousal unit did not specify, and it will be easier to get her to agree to the smaller ticket MC80 later.
Sometimes the strategy of Armada starts with convincing the wife that plastic spaceships are a justified expenditure in the budget.
Get both. ![]()
Impstar no doubt.
Superior no doubt.
More needed no doubt.
Get both.
No no get two of each just to make sure. ![]()
I could abuse the cost of minimarket and get both...

I myself just go into Armada and I own one of everything, minimum. Most that is for the upgrades and the fact that I collect things.
Now, that being said, I have three of each fighter packs and I got three additional Neb Bs for the upgrades.
I still haven't found my playstyle yet. I am still trying to figure out fighters in the late game, and which ships I like the most.
The ISD looks impressive on the table, but unless you slow roll it, it goes down pretty fast.
Home One has Ackbar, and he alone is worth the ship!
Ámazon prime is the largest adult decision that I regret...
I got my hands on an MC80 recently, I think it was worth the investment.

The best answer I can give you is : Buy what you're going to like playing with
All ships are pretty good and there's always a way to adapt your playstyle to make a ship viable ![]()
Another advice : don't expect anything specific with the ships before you play them. I was expecting much more heft to the ISD and as such was disappointed. I'm starting to understand the ship better now and really playing it to what is it helps out a lot ![]()
For almost all of Wave I, the ships I owned/used were 5 neb-b's and x-wings (since no one else wanted them...)
That taught me a lot. I think it forced me to think about the maneuver game in a very different (and mostly better?) way.
Not saying you need that many, but forcing yourself to use what you've got can be a great teacher. Lately, I've taken to flying 3 ISD's around. It's forcing me to understand activation strategies a lot better.

Moving out of the comfort zone is always something good ! ![]()

I bought the imp and the mc80, cool stuff was cheaper and faster than minimarket.
