Blame the smart people in charge of the last Canadian Nationals where the tournament fee + convention you won't even have the time to attend to fee pretty much ruined everything for the majority, only 26 people I think decided to show up and pay up that ridiculous double charge.

And in that statement you miss the point of having a competitive game. It's all fine and well that love and friendship conquers all in the movies, but it gets really old when the other factions are getting access to everything that made the empire unique while still having the most consistently powerful pieces on the board.

yet, in episode 4 and 6 the rebels, not the good guys, claim victory..

The two ways to "deal" with Boba are:

avoid damage

or

have no worthwhile upgrades in your list.

And the Imperial squads can do these things better than rebels.

True, he can take the Palp out of a shuttle and seems to be the perfect counter... but otherwise aces are about avoiding damage as opposed to regenerating or tanking it. And there are quite a few imperial ships in the 20-30 point range recently released or about to come out that can replace Palpy in a list.

OTOH, almost all competitive rebel builds include low AGI ships with miles of hull. Bob can take the TLT out of Miranda or the HLC off of Dash which completely messes up the staple of the list... but I think he'll be almost as happy to just take out the stress out of stresshog or turn a single Y TLT into a garbage ship.
