Star Wars comic books

Kanan is ending, I believe.

The latest comic, the last one in that arc, says "16th March" for the next Kanan issue - so, it appears to still be ongoing.

Most short series lines are for 5 issues or so. Kanan has been going on for a while. I hope it stays as that's one I read with my son. It's also pretty good. I liked the bit about his old partner and the clones.

It isn't in the April or May solicitations. So, it appears to be ending.

It does say that the one after Book II, is 'final' here:

perhaps it's an "epilogue"?

Dang! I was just reading the latest with my son last night. We love that comic. I guess when it's done, I'll have to go through the others with him.

Darth Vader is a good read and so is Star Wars. I haven't read Lando, Cheewie, or Leia so I can't comment on those.

Those are the new series that came out.

The one I liked from the old Dark horse series was Legacy.

Of the new ones Vader is my favorite though I like Kanan a lot more then expected. Its nice that the writers remembered that not every commander in the CIS would be motivated by greed or bloodlust. Leia was ok but I find some of the premises unbelievable enough to not rate it higher. Lando is one of my favorite characters but the plot of his comic was so absurd I put it on the bottom of those I've read. Shattered Empire wasn't bad though I question the idea that there are enough Imperial officers willing to carry out Palpy's post mortem orders for the operation to be a real threat.

Of the Dark Horse comics Legacy was my favorite series followed by Republic/Clone Wars, Rebellion, X-Wing, and The Clone Wars.

I do miss Legacy II. Ania Solo >>>>>>>>>> Cade Skywalker.

But, we are getting Poe Dameron's X-wing series. So, that will likely be amazing.

So these are recent releases you guys are talking about? Any recommendations on the older stories?

The first paragraph I wrote was discussing the new ones. The second was talking about comics from the Dark Horse line which are mostly older ones though some are still pretty recent.

The X-Wing comics ran from the mid to late 90s,

The Republic comic series actually had three names. It was just Star Wars from 98 to 2002 then Star Wars Republic from 2002 to 2003 though there was one later comic published under the Republic title in 2005. In 2003 the main story focus shifted to the Clone Wars and from 2003 to 2006 it was renamed Star Wars Clone Wars.

Rebellion ran from 2006 to 2008

The Clone Wars was a separate series from Clone Wars focused on the cartoon series style which ran for a little over a year. Honestly I wish they had kept it canon with the split between Legends and canon took place but no such luck. I think the fact that one of the cartoon story arcs was a slight rewrite of the comic's first story arc had a lot to do with that decision but I'm not sure. I especially wish they kept the final arc canon since it did a great job of showing not all Separatist military leaders were evil. The main antagonist started motivated by revenge and is somewhat brutal but even when its revealed to him the Republic wasn't responsible for his father's death he keeps fighting because the Republic has begun blockading neutral systems that trade with the CIS devastating their economies and his campaign is aimed solely at those blockade forces from what we see.

And Legacy ran from 2006 to 2010 with the miniseries Legacy: War finishing its story from 2010 t0 2011, and a Legacy II series with new main characters ran from 2013 to 2014

Edit: Technically The Clone Wars can be considered two series. One was a monthly series that ended with Hero of the Confederacy with the second being a series of one shots that ran until 2013.
