Ending the campaign early

By JJMicromegas, in Imperial Assault Campaign

Hello, my campaign group is 4 games into the original campaign and unfortunately I am moving away so we won't be able to complete all 10 games. I have two options for our final game:

1. Play the next story mission as our fifth and final game and make the winner of that game the winner of the campaign

Or

2. Skip ahead with all of our existing equipment and skills to the final battle. I can roll to see which iteration of the battle we come across.

My preference is the second option, however, I am concerned that it could be unbalanced if the rebels haven't gone through the entire campaign and had the ability to gear up. Let me know if you guys have any opinions.

Rebels after four missions will not have a chance in hell at either final mission. If you want to do one of the final missions then you'll need to do a mega upgrade stage.

Each player needs 6-9 extra xp.

The party needs 600-1000 credits per hero.

The IP needs 6-10 influence.

Then go through all the remaining upgrade stages in the campaign list.

Just do the next mission and have fun with it. While I agree that to do the last mission you would NEED a "mega upgrade", it will just give everyone too much to look at too quickly and will probably be a frustrating experience....

As people have hinted, story missions are balanced for specific points in a campaign, which means specific levels of hero XP and gear.

A better choice would be to use a side mission. Since these are intended to play at any point in the campaigns, they are designed to "scale" more with different hero levels.

I suggest sifting through them to find one that sounds thematically appropriate to your story so far, and do that one based on whatever the current threat level would be for your next story mission.
