Playing in Multiple Store Championships - OK?

By USCGrad90, in X-Wing

That's what the phrase means.

No not really. Because being a big fish in a small pond typically means you're isolated from the other ponds. But with a game like this that's not really true. Or at least they way I'm thinking of it isn't the same thing.

Because each store isn't really a pond... It's simply one part of sea that isn't really as isolated as some may think.

But some people would rather see it become a pond, where other fish aren't allowed to swim.

Well already 2 promo C3POs in my box, and another at least 1 coming in...so yea its perfectly ok to play in multiple stores for me:D

I have no problem with it.

We've got a kill-team that hits pretty much every store championship in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina.....and one of the guys always gets Top 8, and gets 1st quite often.

From what I understand it's all about a) Getting games in. b) Playing against people and metas that they wouldn't normally find. and c) using the duplicate prizes to fund further trips.

I know some of the guys who hit every regional in the US that they can use the prizes to fund their trips as well.

It means that when these players that are dominating all these championships come to your store...it gives you one helluva chance to practice against some truly good players and lists.

We just had our store championship, and I had concerns about people playing multiple areas to claim the bye's. It didn't help when I saw people who apparently were well out of the area and had to ask for directions doing well - bearing in mind I never expected to survive the first round myself. That has now been covered here ie, winners who already have bye's bye goes to next player, and I take on board the bit about meeting other players.

I don't play primarily to win anyway, I play to have fun and learn, so I guess you've satisfied my doubts.

A player can only win one Bye. If he already won one, it goes to the second player.

As for participating in mutliple Store Championship, I see no problem with it. The more the merrier. I don't really get this 'local only' mentality concerning tournament.

If you are concerned about space, just ask the Store/TO to limit the number of seat and advertise the tournament to local players one or two week before making the general announcement. This way, local players have the privilege of reserving their place before players from out of town.

Not true if a person already won a championship he has the option to give his bye to 2nd place, he can keep it and go to a 2nd regional event

No, he really can't. His name is registered. If he's found to be doing this behavior that is strictly against the prize rules, you bet that person has a high chance of getting on the ban list.

*looks at multiple SC bye cards I won* oh well #kanyeshrug

I really don't think they'd put someone on that list because he and his TO both were unaware of a slightly less known rule. Right now there only is one guy on it who cheated on stream in a WH40k Conquest tournament, if I recall correctly.
