Hello everyone! Been lurking around reading your posts, and now decided to post with a question.
I've been running a group through Beyond the Rim, I have barely GM'd much before this and that was mainly the beginner adventure for Edge, this was the first time we played through a module and while mistakes were made (both in decisions I made as a newbie GM and in following the rules for things) I think it has gone well overall. The next session I think we will be finishing up the module, and while I feel I have learned a lot as a GM during these sessions I still don't feel confident enough to run my own homebrew adventure yet so decided to run another module.
I was originally going to run Mask of the Pirate Queen simply because it was the one I was able to acquire (Jewel of Yavin I couldn't find anywhere, at least not for a decent price, not gonna spend £100 like some places were asking!). One of my players has, however, gone and managed to pick up the Jewel of Yavin for me to run for the group (I guess that's a good sign that they want to continue!), and now in the conundrum of which to run first. I'll probably put the question to my players and see which they think they want to do, but I was wondering what those who had ran them thought, particularly in the style of play it they emphasised?
From what I have heard, Mask of the Pirate Queen has been likened to 'Quentin Tarantino does Star Wars' (though from what I have read of it I haven't seen anything 'that bad' in it, at least nothing that would make my characters balk at) while Jewel of Yavin has been likened to an Ocean's 11 style heist (not had a chance to read it so can't say). Would it be fair to describe them to the players as such? Which one do you feel has the most player agency in them? Did you find one harder to run than another? Did you find one scales up to higher level content better (and therefore should run the other one first before the players get too high)? Any other advice you can give?
