Rumor: Another interesting entry from rpg pundit

By player769046, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Yes, I am sorry Superklaus. I should have put a smiley or something next to my comment. When I said "evil" I was entirely joking. It's kind of a cliche line, to say to "use your powers for good instead of evil". I am sorry if you took it as a personal attack or anything. It was merely poking fun for you finding and posting negative links and no positive links. My apologies if anything else was inferred from that. happy.gif

I've got a bit of a soft spot for RPG Pundit, as I thought his remarks about WFRP in the past have been generally supportive and his blog's pretty entertaining for what it is (ie - daily article writing, especially on a niche subject, means you are going to produce rubbish now and then so I think it's impressive that he produces interesting, funny and informative posts with the degree of regularity he achieves).

He had a soft spot for WFRP2e and so speaks kindly of it. However, that will fuel his irrational hatred of WFRP3e and FFG. I see he has also made incorrect statements about MikeZ and the playtest program. The assault has begun.

Exactly, he liked 2E so he spoke well of it and didn't make any emenies of that community, so sure, Dave thinks he's an alright cat. But if it's a game he wants a say so in (as with the playtest of Doctor Who) and the general consensus is to not treat his every idea as gold, or if it is a game that doesn't fit his snooty opinion of what makes a good RPG (by the standards of his l33t Forgist philosophy) then he will stoop to any level of hyperbole or rumour-mongering to bring said game down and prove his superiority. I speak from personal experience when I say he is a world class boil on the butt of the RPG community...

Oooh UPDATE!

He has responded to FFG's response:

...WHAT A ******.

Ha! He's trying to goad FFG into giving him an interview! LOL! That is so him.

Please, FFG, don't give him what he wants. It will only make him feel even more self-important than he already does. In fact, I think it would be highly appropriate to tell him him to... stick it in his pipe and smoke it partido_risa.gif

I can see his next blog entry: Currently Smoking: The Pipe FFG handed to me + My Ass...

I just LOVE how arrogant he is.

He's like: "FFG should be THANKFUL that I even MENTIONED them on MY blog. Getting publicity on MY blog has made or broken other, greater gaming companies."

I think this thread has de-re-de-railed enough from relevant, WFRP-related topics.

I'm all for folks sharing, reading, and posting commentary, feedback, and discussion about the system (pro and con), but I'd like the commentary on this particular commentator to come to an end, please.

That's not arrogance. That's just your standard attention-*****:ing.

The truly arrogant do not write blogs at all...

Unfortunately, I don't have a Xanga account to post on his blog ... and it's not worth it to me to do so. However, my post is:

@RPGpundit - Hardly. It's like saying there is something "rotten" with your machine because people disagree with you and post so. There will always be a dissenting voice for just about everything. The email you got might just be from a WFRPv2 fan that knows absolutely nothing about 3rd Ed, and knows no one at FFG, and just sent you an email to bad-mouth FFG because they're upset 3rd Ed isn't a tweaked version of 2nd Ed. Heck, for all we know it could even be from a D&D fan that wants to scuttle WFRP 3e because they are afraid it might prove better or more popular than D&D. That's the problem with anonymous sources, and without verifying anonymous sources' information. It could very well have nothing to do with FFG "being rotten" or FFG having any sort of problems. If you can't independently verify a source's information, especially from an anonymous source, it is hardly something that should be given much weight or credence.

Of course, most journalists, especially ones purporting to offer fair reviews, corroborate potentially slanderous information and also seek opposing comments before publishing. Notice almost every news or TV story either gets comments from the other side, or says "we attempted to contact but got no response". So, in your situation, you should have contacted FFG, let them know the information you had gained from your anonymous source. Then, since it's likely FFG would have given some sort of reply denying the allegations, posted both in a balanced manner.

Anyway. Enough of this thread for me. Let's just look forward to this weekend, when we can run WFRP 3e. Hopefully the people who don't think they will like the game will play, or at least stop by, a demo and at least get some first-hand information before deciding they don't like it.

I am not really sure why people are propagating this further, especially after ynnen has asked people to let it lie. Anyone who wants to find Pundits blog probably knows where it is by now.
