'Nera'-do-well (AKA Nera w/ Chimps)

By ColonelCavedude, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I've been tossing this Nera Dantels build around in my head for a little while now, and I figured it'd be a good idea to get some feedback:

Nera Dantels (35)

B-wing (26), Fire-Control System (2), Extra Munitions (2), Proton torpedoes (4), Crack Shot (1), Guidance Chips (0)

The general idea here is that we have a pseudo-turret that's rolling 4 attack dice, turning an eyeball and a blank into crits, and using the crack shot to push those crits through if necessary. Nera's ability makes it easier to keep the ordinance from being wasted, especially if she ends up being chased. And despite the number of upgrades, she still weighs in at a pretty reasonable 35 points, which keeps her from eating up too much squad space.

I've found she fits fairly well in a couple of different lists, such as Nera, Poe w/ R5-P9, VI, and AT, and a Stresshog, or in 4 ship lists with Tarn, Hobbie, and a Z-95.

Lemme know what you guys think!

If you find grabbing target locks tricky at times (mainly against high PS arc-dodgers), you can switch crack shot for deadeye. This makes FCS unnecessary for ordnance use (but its still useful for primary weapon attacks). Deadeye means you can just snap off a torp shot at anything R2-3 away and still have good odds of hitting (although the crack shot makes one torp all but gauranteed to hit...)

I'll have to try it both ways. Making torpedo runs easier is really good, whereas crack shot lets me force crits through onto aces like Soontir and knock off stealth devices. And with deadeye and no FCS, it gives me a little bit more point flexibility when building a list. I've also thought about adding a Tractor Beam to add some utility against swarms after the torpedoes are blown.

You'll have to watch out for a Range 1 Cannor Jax, he doesn't even have to have you in arc or as a viable target (crashed) to ruin Nera's day. Palob will also be a pain in the butt, hard to use deadeye when someone keeps stealing your focus token...

If you're really worried about TLs you can always throw a TLT on Dutch to help Nera out, and have a viable ship on the board.
