R3-A2 on Biggs:

By Ro el Pen, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Am I crazy to try to put a stress bot onto Biggs?

The reason, I am having trouble with the Phantom pilots, Whisper, and Echo.

Any guidance, or assistance would be welcome. Thanks

Hobbie is made for the stress bot if you want it on an xwing. Hes the second best carrier for it after a titled y wing.

Best carrier for R3-A2 is actually a Gold Squadron Y-Wing, preferably with TLT and possibly BTL-A4.

Biggs dies too quickly, where Control is best throughout an entire game.

The only thing that dies faster than Biggs, is actionless Biggs. Biggs flying alongside an R3-A2 ship,though..

Completely forgot about Hobbie.

Going to see what I can come with on Hobbie. Just trying to stay with an X-wing. If I change ships I have a penalty to pay for.

I know if all else fails I can to old faithful Gold Y.

Thanks for the insight

On the other hand Biggs is going to draw all the hate anyway...

Yea but as much as we tend to joke that Biggs job is to die, it actually isn't. His job is force split fire. I'd argue if he dies in the first pass he really hasn't been good value. To survive he really wants a disposable astromech for IA. R3-A2 is simply far too good to lose form your force so readily.

Building and flying a list to force fire to be split across Biggs and a stresshog (or X as the OP wants) certainly has merit though.

Doesn't really matter what droid it is if you're at the point where you have to sacrifice it, though, does it?

In one sense no, it doesn't, not to Biggs anyway who is just happy to be alive at theT point. However you don't really want to lose R3-A2 in first or second turn of shooting ( stresshog however can go after two turns without it hurting so much as its already stacked 4 steps at that point!) Just seems like a waste. Id much rather stick a standard R2 or a defensive droid on Biggs with IA.
