So I'll be playing in a SC this weekend and I'm taking Whisper Chiraneau. I have been practicing Whisper with Intel agent but I find I take way to many risks with Intel agent, sometimes really changing the outcome of the game in a bad way. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm sitting at 98 points without Intel Agent. Should I stick with the 98 for the initiative bid or should I go with Kallus and bump it up to 100. I haven't used him yet but he could probably work wonders against pilots who have PS skill on me or if I lose initiative. What are your thoughts on crew for whisper??

NOT having Intelligence Agent is a risk. You play the game in every other circumstance not knowing the maneuver that your opponent will make. So how is that opportunity to see what an enemy ship doing a risk?

They're using the information he's receiving to play more aggressively, to their detriment, and are considering changing crew for something they'll use more effectively.

My personal favorite on whisper is still navigator. You may not have all the Decloak shenanigans of yesteryear but navigator makes it hard to get blocked
Why whisper and not echo? Whisper feels sort of predictable to me.
I think you could echo/kallus and still fidget for the initiative,plus have better decloaking choices?

Echo is PS8 and as such will risk getting MIRANDA-blown to bits (because RAC and Han are dead thanks to TLT)

Echo has worse token economy meaning greater vulnerability to TLT, and turrets in general make Echo's maneuverability kind of pointless
The thing about IA Whisper is that if you are close enough to use it it probably isn't relavent anymore. Your dial is already set so you the only thing it changes is where the cloak takes you, and if they've countered cloak 1 they've probably got option 2 covered as well, meaning you go option 3 if you can and don't get to shoot this round. I think you drop IA and switch your FCS to sensor jammer with the points left over.

Like Dracon said... It makes me be a little more aggressive then I'd like to be. I'm not using it wrong. I know how it works. I've been flying phantoms since they came out so I'm pretty good at determining the best move I can make. I feel that when I use Intel agent it usually confirms my move is the correct one and 90 percent of them. I was running through the last tournament I played until I got to top 4 and played a list I no doubt should have destroyed, but I made a critical error with whisper after changing my mind on my decloak after using Intel. My original move was the correct move but I tried a more aggressive move and ended up on an asteroid. Still a mistake I made, but I just feel if get more mileage out of Kallus or something else.

I disagree with the Han and RAC are dead part. With EU on the large ships, it's not hard to get into range 1 of TLT Ys. Kings don't put out as much damage with the TLTs to worry about. You just stay out of range one on Ks

It's a solid build against most things, tbh, whether you use IA or Kallus or something more unusual.
You just have to make sure you spend Vader wisely, and accept that your MoV is going to suuuuuuuck.

I expected that last tournament, however I was number 1 in MOV going to the cut as I didn't lose the Decimator all day. It technically never go destroyed as I made an illegal maneuver and was flown off the board.
What do you think about trimming back on your RAC?
At the moment, I'm in favor of trading those 2 points to trade FCS to Sensor Jammer, but see a bit of wiggle-room in your Elite Talent and Crew options on RAC...

I'm pretty set on RAC. He's an ace killer. Especially Soontir. Completely neutralized Soontir twice in the last tourney. I really like Sensor Jammer on Whisper as I ran her with it A LOT once TLTs came out. I have been doing FCS because of Vader on the Deci. If that Deci is going to Use Vader on Whisper, I'm gettin in as many hits as I can before I bite it.
Well it sounds like you know what you're doing with Whisper, usually predict your opponent's maneuver correctly, and IA is making you play with more risk (not sure I understand that bit tbh).
No reason not to take Kallus, really.
Yeah, Kallus in this case is not a bad choice.
With that particular RAC build, you don't care about initiative that much.
PS 9 Ships you don't have to worry about (cuz RAC will vader 'em to death):
Soontir, Vader (pilot), VI Jake, Talonbane, Wedge
PS 9 ships you can use Kallus on to protect Whisper:
Han or Dengar
Anything else is kinda moot, so you should be fine at 100 pts.
I've been using the phantom in my tournament lists since it came out (including my store champs top 8 list), and my favorite build by far is Echo, Lone Wolf, Sensor Jammer, Rec Spec, ACD.
Solid against TLTs, ps9-12, and everything below ps6. (lone wolf, rec spec, and sensor jammer make it extremely difficult to put damage on him.)
Turrets don't negate Echo's ability, you use the angle decloak to control range and hit TLTs at R1, everything else R3.

When I used Vader on a decimator I always found that vader made him more survivable. Spending two hull to remove a ship tends to stop them taking off 2, three or four hull next time they shoot!
