Scum and Villainy Podcast Episode 26: Rage against the Machine

By sozin, in X-Wing

He's creepy, follows you around, and wants to touch your ships (or for them to touch him, he doesn't care, he likes both).

He's also a Peeping Tom with the Intel Agent.

How does he do against an Exposed Youngster?

Is that happening? I thought we moved past Youngster.

'Twas a pun, sirrah.

Also, Rage + Youngster is definitely going to be a thing, whether in a swarm of 8 TIE fighters (who seek to do their damage every other round or so), or a swarm of 7 with Wampa and Epsilon Leader (who are much more consistent).

Moreover, Swarms are fairly Ordnance-proof, excepting only when the Alpha-Strike fleets grab Assault Missiles.

Man that flew right past me.

You guys didn't know Speederbike! there are Swoopbikes, but cmon.

oh hell no!

Not speeder bike... Swoop. Dengar's face was melted in a swoop race. Speeder bikes are like Star Wars scooters.

I think I could escape the Mynock compound for a few hours to swing by pirate land. I could be back before dinner and no one would be the wiser...right? Its not like there would be any recorded evidence or anything.

TRAITOR!

Man... I want to "Like" this post but I just can't out of principle, even though it made me chuckle.

I was able to like your post, and I felt the same.

For me the biggest winner is the Contracted Scout. I like cheap (relative to what you get) effective blockers and this guy fits the bill.

Take the YT-2400 with Intel (and BR) and combine it with a Black Tie w/ Intimidation (A swarm dark horse) and you get what I'm dubbing:

The Pervert

Contracted Scout — JumpMaster 5000 - 25

  • Intimidation - 2
  • Intel Agent - 1
  • Ion Projector - 2 (semi-optional)
  • Open Salvaged Astromech Slot (R5-P8 might be best if you want to sink the points into him)

He's creepy, follows you around, and wants to touch your ships (or for them to touch him, he doesn't care, he likes both).

The more ships you run him with the better. If he was PS 1, he'd be perfect.

Adaptability -1?

You'd lose out with intimidation.

Man I'm hyped on the Jumpmaster now.

Enjoyed the episode gents - Sozin I especially enjoy the new listjuggler features!

If you're still taking list suggestions, I'd appreciate some thoughts on 2 lists I've done well with at some winter kits/store champs:

Miranda, TLT, Tactician - 37

Gold, TLT, R3-A2, BTL-A4 - 26

Gold, TLT - 24

Bandit - 12

99

Which evolved into:

Miranda, TLT, Intelligence Agent - 36

Gold, TLT, R3-A2, BTL-A4 - 26

Biggs, R4-D6, Integrated Astromech - 26

Bandit - 12

100

The original list started off as a PHeaver clone (swapping Miranda for Poe), but with a local rise of the Crack Swarm, Biggs has stepped in as quite a good counter. He also lets you do some quite funky things with Miranda (typically getting in close to whack people with 4 dice attacks in the opening rounds), while also keeping the Stresshog alive.

And lets face it, who can deny that mighty moustache!

Ended up winning a 40+ player Winter kit with the first list, and a 40 player Store Champs with the second. :)

This would be spectacular!

You know we have you chipped now. Those unlocked gates are just so our fellow inmates feel more relaxed. I'd gladly sign up for a prisoner exchange program that would allow Jeff to guest on Mynock :D

Sorry Pirate Lord but I like CRCL's original squad better. I like the Feedback Array on the J5K. You shouldn't fear Feedback, they should.

When I first planned out the list I didn't actually have any feedbacks, but now that they're in there I can't imagine taking them out. In wave 6 I was running HLC Leebo with intel and APLs, and I learnt that big ships with barrel roll are incedibly good blockers. With all the aces in the meta, it seems like a no-brainer to have a way to mess up their game.

I played the list in league. I'm convinced.

FEEDBACK ARRAY IS LYFE.

seriously though those ships are really effective and 4 lom crew might even be undercosted.

Haha, nice to hear. I'm not a vassal player, so I have to wait a bit before I can try it out places other than in my head. Out of curiosity, what did you play against?

"Feedback is love. Feedback is life."

I crunched 4-LOMs numbers a while ago at work (hahah, my boss thought I was excelling some research data!), comparing him to Zuckuss. The long and short of it is that 4-LOM is 'better' than Zuckuss unless the opponent is tokenless (where 4-LOM does nothing and Zuckuss does). Zuckuss is probably better on the low PS scouts as you're likely shooting after the enemy and they may have already spent their tokens, but all the ships I'm currently hating on stack multiple tokens. I also 4-LOM's ion token is much less severe than Zuckuss's 1+ stress tokens. On the big ship you can essentially use him once during the game for no negative effect, or wait till you don't mind doing a 1-forward to use him again.

I'm already planning my Mad Max themed Jump Masters.

I imagine scum deadeye, chimps, and agromech as a funny interaction. Idiot pilot fires torpedo blindly, Agromech hacks the chips all pissed off and grudgingly guides the missile to the target. Idiot pilot cheers.

I'm really excited about some of these new scum builds. IG88 was really the main competitive build, with some success from a few others, but I think we will have more variety now. I like how the faction is shaping up.

Froggies I think that Jumpmaster will open a lot up. I hope misthunter will do the same.

I hereby dub all these multiple scout lists "Jumpmaster 10k" (two JM), "Jumpmaster 15k" (3 JM), and "Jumpmaster 20k" (4 JM)

Someone in another thread dubbed multi-Jumpmaster lists "Daytona 5000" (all left turns), which I think is a fantastic name.

I've seen a lot of people refer to the torpedo scouts as U-Boats.

looking foreward to more!

Your perfect blocker is contacted scout, intimidation, intelligence agent, ion projector, unhinged astromech, feedback array. 33 points allows three of them in your squad with a 1 point initiative bid.

Look forward to it in regionals of farmageddon.
