Sorry if this doesn't belong year but there really wasn't a good place to post this topic. I have been playing now for almost 2 years. i come to my FLGS very Star Wars night and i play in almost all of the FFG tournament packs that they and do OK in them, however I am trying to make that next step. I usually bat around 50/50 and miss the cut but one match the person that i lose to in my final match usually makes the cut. so need to figure out what i am doing wrong. Yes i know win that last match and i will do it (please don't be a **** and say that) I have fun but i like to win, I have tried gambling the meta i have tired playing different factions. I have post fun list and i have read a lot on hear i just want to take that next step. My home store Championship I went 2 and 3 and i'm going to another one i want to take crack bots with HLC FCS with and tlt empire mobile heavy meta for regionals will probably play in 2. I am not looking to win I am looking to place at these events what do i need to do
Taking the next step
Hard to say what the issue is brother. Your build? Your skills? Your opponents build and skills?
I consider myself pretty good at this game but there are players I've run into that will fly circles around me. Literally. Its uncanny like they have precog, but they don't. they're. simply. Better.
Practice practice practice is all I can advise. Know every ships dial and common loadout/maneuvers for starters. Over almost 2 decades I've found the commonality between any competitive game is in knowing your opponents at least as well as you know yourself. Practice your own builds until you can mechanically perform them. Fly well but be unpredictable while predicting what your opponent will do. We are all creatures of habit and this is something that is exploitable. Know when to run. Focus fire and so on. Evaluate each loss and find out why. Its the little things..
