Feldherr hard case

By meekor, in Star Wars: Armada Off-Topic

Does anyone have experience with the Tan Feldherr hard case...Saw 1 on Evilbay and was curious to comparison with the medium hard camera case...

I have several Feldherr cases including a hard shell. It is similar to a Stanley or Plano case with solid construction and quality components. I purchased the case as part of their X-Wing miniatures package . The case is large (18 x 14 x 13) I have just under 100 models including 1 of every huge ship up to the Hounds Tooth plus 1 Tantive and 1 Rebel Transport in the case at one time. You can even include an epic ruler, assembled, in the case diagonally. The complete system linked above was just over $100.00 shipped to the US from Germany.

The foam is lower density than a GW or Battlefoam system but does the job intended. They make two sizes of form, Full (14 x 11) and half (7 x 11). These are similar to a GW case but different enough from Battlefoam (15 x 8), KR Multicase (15 x 10) and Game Plus (13 x 8) that none of the systems are interchangeable. I like the Feldherr foam as it is designed by faction, cut tight enough to protect but loose enough to not break things (X-Wing go in a square opening) They have space for dials, cards and bases on most trays and trays for just those. They also have Compartment Boxes, plastic trays with covers (Planno boxes) that are the same size as full and half trays which are great for tokens, dials, markers, and rulers.
Their Mini (Half) and Maxi (Full) cases are more realistic for single plater needs at a tournament and everything is interchangeable. By using their light storage boxes (VERY light weight cardboard that I would nit be willing to take out of the house) to organize trays for FW, X-Wing, Armada, Infinity, several Mantic games and soon Gates of Antares on my storage shelf I can then chose which Compartment Box and figure trays are needed for that days gaming and load my case. This way I buy foam as needed for my figure collections and keep reusing the same 3-4 cases.
Having been hands on with Feldherr, Battlefoam, KR Multicase, and Game Plus systems I and most pleased with and have put my money into Feldherr products.

Thnks Tek ; the 1 that is being sold is apparently a cardboard storage keeper...I do like the look of the link you provided...Going to have to rethink this now...Working on storing Wave 1&2...

The link is for X-Wing. They make kits for Armada wave 1, wave 2, rebel wave 1 and 2 only, and Empire wave 1 and 2 only. You can also buy any of the foam trays separately.

Yeah I noticed that they did not have an Armada combination set-up with the case...Only separate sections...

FYI...I emailed Feldherr late last nite concerning the possibility for an Armada Hard Case set...Just got a reply from their customer service ; they are currently working on getting together within the next 2 wks...

I'm looking forward to more information on this.

Thank you Tekwych for your Feldherr experience.

I am too ; I used to use Hard Camera cases with pluck foam for my X-wings...Using pre-cut foam and a Hard case for Armada looks awesome...
