Keyan and Ezra

By Tetrarch, in X-Wing

Hi,

i m not sure, if this is allowed, but i think since the rules state that effect that appear at the same time, the player can chose which effect goes first.

So i rather check here.

The idea is:

Keyan Farlander with Bwing/E2 Modification and Ezra Brider as co-pilot.

Can i change one focus symbol on one die to a crit (Ezras ability) an then change any remaining focus symbols to hits (Keyans ability)?

Thanks in advance

greetings

H

Yes.

It seems like the same interaction as Poe with Weapons Guidance; first you use an effect that relies on a token being present, then you use the actual token.

(Note that usually these questions are for the rules questions subforum.)

Edit: I like this combo with an HLC.

I think Keyan and Hera are going to be a couple... she can allow him to make red maneuvers, he takes the stress and turns his eyes into hits. Kanan better watch out he's about to lose his girlfriend.

She's Ibi's friend too... throw in Predator and she's re-rolling most of her dice every single turn even without actions.

Hera certainly gets around! Must be the Twi'lek in her. I am normally a scum/Imp player *pauses for boos* but have recently thought about expanding into the Rebel Scum..sorry Rebel faction. Keyan/Ezra was something I was looking at, maybe fit in a Jan HWK in there somehow and see what happens.

As previously stated, never played rebels so this could be pure toilet building.

The biggest problem is both Keyan and Ibs are in B-wings which now, thanks to TLT, do not have a high enough damage output and do not live long enouph for how much you need to invest in them. Especially named pilots.

The problem I see with Keyan & Ezra is that we are paying 4 points to do nothing more than turn a hit into a crit, as Keyan was going to flip that [focus] result for us anyway . Call me crazy, but I think we're getting thoroughly robbed in this deal.

Keyan is best, IMO, when you keep him relatively cheap and focused on his job, and that is to kill anything that dares move in front of him. Just give him an EPT that can generate stress (eg Push the Limit or Stay on Target), slap on Fire-Control System or Advanced Sensors if you have the points, and go to town. Since no sane opponent is going to let Keyan survive for long, anything more than that is generally just throwing points away.

I'll be putting Hera on Ezra's attack shuttle, personally. Having him with Wired and permanently stressed should be interesting. Then again, that just seems to fit with my current bent of trying to work with stress instead of trying to clear it off and have predictable movements.

Am I the only one who's rather underwhelmed by Ezra as crew? He's three points and provides a minor pseudo-focus when attacking while stressed. He does work on all attacks, but that specific matrix of requirements (Rebel ship with a crew slot that will be spending significant time while stressed and benefits from focuses that turn into critical hit results) is just a really niche combo. Most of the ships that would fit in that category would probably want Kanan or Kyle Katarn for the same cost, as they both offer a lot of flexibility.

This. I faced a Keyan (with PTL) in a store champ, he was target 1, no question, nuked him ASAP.

I prefer PTL, but I can see an argument for Stay on Target... If you really want him to die fast, put on Opportunist, grabs a TL or barrel rolls, only stresses when he knows he's getting a shot, throws an extra die as well. In any case, Ezra is too much for a hit->crit conversion, and Hera only helps when he couldn't shoot his stress away, and you lose 2.5 action choices when you do that, kinda meh I think.

Hera and Stay On Target for Keyan are only 33 points, and gives you some flexibility. The combo allows you to set up for a K-Turn, then change it to a hard 2 if you would be blocked so you can try again next turn. Or, in the event that you get arc-dodged, you can pull another red move next turn.

Chopper would be another candidate for Keyan. B-Wings can afford to suffer some damage, and it can be worthwhile to take a damage after red move in order to get something equal to a focus/TL combo.

Hera pilot? She gets Ezra on red moves, and normal action on greens, vs Kyle who double actions on greens, but does nothing on reds. They're both every-other turnish, so Ezra vs. Kyle comes down to play style there (or take both on the VCX). Yeah, can't think of anything else though...

Keyan is sooo good at clearing stress though, it's just not for me. But if you can make it work, go for it.
