Noob Imperial List

By Cuthawolf, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So in an effort to revitalize myself, I'm thinking about some Imperial lists. The following was designed mostly to be easy to play for someone (like me) who isn't very skilled AND doesn't have much experience playing Imps.

Any kinds of suggestions or advice would be welcome.

So I'm a noob player too...

But, I would take Howlrunner (make those cheap ties really chew through competitive fighter screens) and move boosted comms and Wulff onto the ISD. You lose the weapons team and the brutal speed 5 bombers but you still have the fastest bomber squadrons in the game and your fighters can now keep up with them.

The VSD is a less effective carrier because you only have 3 squadron activation so one of your bombers is going to get left behind. Even when you're using Wulff to bring

double squadron activations every turn you still leave one tie squadron out of the fight. Putting Wulff and boosted comms on the ISD gives you 8 squad activation every turn.

To make room for Howlrunner I'd probably downgrade the ISD II to an ISD I, still puts the hurt on and with speed three you can get into black die range pretty **** fast. And then stop there with Tarkin or Wulff haha. Those changes would bring you down to 393pts, that's a pretty solid initiative bid. Or you could put flight controllers on the ISD and Gunnery team on the VSD. That makes for one hell of a fighter group, 6 blue die with a reroll from 8pt tie squadrons! That even makes the bombers start looking nasty. Or just spend those 7pts on any one of the many upgrades that would be useful haha...

As for the Raider, I don't know. Haven't played one. But I've seen games where positioning has been their undoing. Like with any small ship one mistake can ruin your day real quick. That's why the star destroyers are more forgiving for less experienced players. (Like me haha, first game I played I flew my CR90 at speed three straight into a VSD's front and side arc...)
