Fleet Adjustments - GunTeam/FlightControllers and Dengar/IG88

By RazelKorr, in Star Wars: Armada

i really like your minimal raider idea. VET CAPTAIN

The more I think about it the more I am considering Vader or Mithel over IG-88. The FC will push Vader into IG-88+ levels of pewpew, while Mithel is a sprinkler of damage and potentially a title on the Imperial.

Do you mean Bossk levels of pew-pew? I think IG-88's average damage on four blues is 2.00 (2.5 with FCs), while Vanilla Vader is looking at 3.25 damage on average, with bursts of up to 5, and FC Vader is pushing out 4 on average, with bursts of 6 (or 5 with an accuracy). That firepower level of firepower is withering.

@Lyr : Well, in my area, since GT on Vic 2s were a thing, I've never seen that happen more than twice over the course of several months. Perhaps in other places people are less considerate with regards to the safety of their crews :P

It's probably got to do with a cultural bias more than anything. In France many people prefer to win 6-4 securely than taking huge risks for an 8-2 (and by huge risks I mean giving the opponent the chance of getting an 8-2 as well if the plan goes terribly bad).

Yeah, Vader definitely puts out pretty consistent, powerful damage.

Must...restrain...from making...French jokes...

Why? Avoiding defeat is a miracle in itself for them, I fail to see what comeback they could possibly have.

I presume Moffzen flys his VSD's with the french flag on them. A white cross on a white background!

Well, Looks like 88 becomes Vader.

The French ran roughshod over Europe for a long time. So what joke are we talking about...?

@sirseatbelt : But that was a long time ago ;) Since WW2 France struggles (and fails) to stay relevant. Just a quick historical comment regarding the surrender of 1940 then I'll end the topic, it was unavoidable due to the doctrine at the time. The strategists back then thought it would be a good idea to spend 12 years and countless amounts of cash on a big defense line that the Germans simply flanked. Like in Armada, it was a clear case of loss at deployment :P

Back on the topic at hand, I state once again that Flight Controllers is in my opinion a superior choice over GT for an ISD. I'd rather secure a ship kill by first completely obliterating his escort fighters then pecking away at my target hull zone followed up by a HTT volley than having my TIEs dead because they can't kill the enemy fighters before they are themselves dead. With EH and FC, managing 4 TIE F and Howlrunner, each squadron command throws 24 anti-squadron blue dice with 4 to 5 swarms reroll. It's also a good defensive choice because you're shutting down what would be a pain to deal with an ISD : the individual attacks from many enemy squadrons.

Basically in this situation GT is the versatile upgrade while FC is the match specific one. So generally gt is better.

well one of the great things about gun team, even you want to win the squadron game first and foremost gun team gives you the option. Meaning if you want you can use that 2 blue AS out the front as your 2nd attack.

Plus, every once in a while you're bound to get a double front arc medium range shot.
