Twin Laser Turret and R3-A2

By Keoki, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hello! I apologize if this has been addressed before. I couldn't find it in the FAQ, nor by searching this forum.

Twin Laser Turret: Attack: Perform this attack twice (even against a target outside your firing arc).

R3-A2: When you declare the target of your attack, if the defender is inside your firing arc, you may receive 1 stress token to cause the defender to receive 1 stress token.

My understanding of TLT is that both attacks must target the same ship, so the target is only declared once, even though it's attacked twice. Would R3-A2, then, only trigger once?

Thanks!

Correct, yes.

The way to get R3A2 twice is via the BTLA4 title from Most Wanted.

Spot on with your assessment. It would also apply to anyone firing Cluster missiles as there's only one Declare Target step with them also.

Although, there's nothing that fires missiles that can take the astromech as well, but you can see what I mean.

Contrast with Tactician, which works 'after you attack', so it triggers twice on TLT/Clusters. Then think why there will never be a ship with both Crew and Astromech slots.

Just plain nasty, that would be.
