Tips for the E wing

By csgoat, in X-Wing

Alrighty, been thinking about getting an E wing for a while now and my local shop had one in store last night so I picked it up, I have quite a few ideas on how to use it, but was wondering what some of the crazier e wing builds are around that you guys have used.

Was thinking about pairing with poe, but if you guys have some things you have seen it do, post up some ideas and lets get crazy.

Most of the best E-wing builds are Corran - though I'm told A'baht is good in epic games.

I played Corran + Poe and Awing as blocker. Pretty solid list. With E wing problem is that there are only 3 builds that are viable:

Ace Corran:

PtL+EU+R2+FCS/AS thats 48 points but 48 points that are hard to kill and can bring world of pain. With FCS you have 3 actions with AS you have no stress. your call

Sidekick Corran:

VI+R2+FCS When you want Corran but are short on points works nice paired with Dash for example.

Swarm leader

Ethan+R2 O man i still remember the beating that swarm of z95 lead by this guy gave me on last nationals. Pretty scary with all those crits:P

Etahn is criminally underrated.

BB-8, PtL, FCS is only 38 points and lets you do all 4 of your actions every turn with no stress. PS 5 is a drawback, but it's no different than PS 8 coran vs Soontir fel, Vader, etc.

There is only one real Corran Horn.

Push the Limit, R2-D2, Adv. Sensors, Engine Upgrade. 49 pts of nigh-unkillable monstrosity.

He maneuvers like pre-nerf Echo; he can barrel roll and/or boost before revealing his move, adjusting his postion and angle before he reveals a green maneuver, clears stress, and regens a shield.

He also enjoys taking two actions, them deliberately ramming an opponents ship so it can't fire at him that turn, and he can regen another shield.

He loses a little bit of damage output by swapping adv sensors for fire control, but the tradeoff is well worth it.

This Corran build is the most difficult thing to kill that I've ever played against, 9 times out of 10, I can only win by threatening Corran early game, making him flee and regen while I kill his support, and then win on time.

Do yourself a favor; ignore the onvious synergy of fire conrol, and play the Corran who is weak to nothing but double stress.

This is my favorite Corran build. I usually pair him with Biggs to protect him when he's ready for the APT attack because he'll be at range one with no tokens for defense because he'll need to use his Marksmanship action. But I can usually get 3 hits and 2 crits with it.

E-Wing: •Corran Horn (50)

Marksmanship (3)

Fire Control System (2)

Advanced Proton Torpedoes (6)

•R2-D2 (4)

Etahn is criminally underrated.

BB-8, PtL, FCS is only 38 points and lets you do all 4 of your actions every turn with no stress.

How's that work - given that Push The Limit always results in stress once used?

If you're going to run Ethan, try him with Juke + Sensor Jammer. He becomes a tank, and can use his tankiness to hit a bit harder.

Green on dial>>BB8 triggers a Barrel Roll>>PtL triggers from barrel roll, lets assume a Focus here>>get stress from PtL>>perform a green maneuver>>clear stress from green>>action step perform Evade>>shoot>>get Target Lock from FCS.

Here you go. 4 actions no stress.

Last store i played 1 match against Corran with Juke. Maybe it was just 2xTLT but he wasnt shining at all.

I'm not sure Juke is good on Corran- the PTL/R2D2 synergy is strong on him. As is his ability + FCS. But Juke + Sensor Jammer should be a TLT's worst nightmare.

Once dorsal comes out he has BTL-A4s as a crit generating option. Though that's not that different from having Zs do the same thing.

People talk about the defender needing a fix but the E wing has been in just as woeful position, when the only pilot you ever see is Coran the Horn rocking a certain blue droid, something nerds to be done.

Yes it's a great ship if you take Coran, with the the same old, same old

Thats why every1 hope for Rebel Veterans with titles for E and X wings....

'Etahn A'baht's flying circus'

Etahn Abaht, with Fire Control System, R7 Astromech, Evasion EPT.

The entire list revolves around A'baht's crazy awesome ability. So while it has a lot of points in him, it'll make up for it elsewhere in this list. You get your payback by the number of other shooters in your list, and their ability to fire at target's in A'baht's forward arc. Evasion is a failsafe. The R7 allows A'baht to use his Target Lock defensively. The Fire Control System enables A'baht to use the R7 re-roll possibly before or after his own shot. More later...

Next up: Cheap swarm ships.

2x A-Wing test pilot, Chaardian refit

1x Z-95 Bandit (or whatever the 12 point version is called)

Airen Cracken Z-95 with whatever 1-point EPT you prefer (Decoy can be pretty strong).

Cracken is another failsafe for A'Baht defensively. Cracken shoots higher than A'baht, so if for any reason/benefit A'baht needs another action, Cracken can give it to him.

Now you have four shooters to benefit off of A'baht, and A'baht is reasonably survivable. You have blockers, and maneuverability both fast and slow.

It's a fun list, and that's how I started calling it a 'flying circus'.

What is the "evasion" ept?

I might try this next time I want a fun game

Knave Squadron Pilot (27)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Targeting Astromech (2)

What is the "evasion" ept?

Probably Juke

I assumed Elusiveness. I hope I assumed wrong though.

I think Juke can work on Corran, but you need someone to reliably hand him focus as well--Kyle, Cracken, or Garven. Having just an evade token isn't enough to keep him on the board given the amount of attention he attracts.

I've asked this question before but I don't remember the answer. What is wrong with the E-Wing?

Overpriced, basically.

Overpriced, basically.

Which by and large is the flaw with every underperforming ship.

So you would want it closer to the cost of the T-70 X-Wing or the T-65 X-Wing?

So you would want it closer to the cost of the T-70 X-Wing or the T-65 X-Wing?

T-70 is probably more appropriate. That ship really drove home how overpriced the E-wing is.

It's a wonderful ship, but not at a 27 points for an Elite-less PS 1.

I did mean Elusiveness.

Advance sensors and targeting astromech, he can get into a lot of tricky places.
