Raider questions

By Lendosan, in X-Wing Rules Questions

So last night I used my Imperial Raider for the first time, and what a beast! However several questions popped up, during the game, that we couldn't answer. Could anyone assist me with those?

1) Primary Weapon Arcs, does the ship fire from all weapon arcs with its Primary weapons? Or does the Aft section only get to shoot with secondary weapons?

2) Do the Fore & Aft sections received/act differently when actions are completed? Say the rear makes a target lock, can the fore use that target lock as the ship is a whole? How does Reinforce work? Can the fore Reinforce the aft, or does it effect the entire ship? It never really states that in the rules.

3) How much energy does a huge ship start with?

4) When you allocate energy, does it remain on that allocation turn-after-turn? Say I allocate two energy to a Single Turbolaser, does that energy remain on the weapon until used?

I appreciate the newbie questions, but huge ships are a new step for me.

1. Each section has its own. Primary weapon uses arc of the section its on. Aft uses only secondaries

2. Target lock is for both. Reinforce if i recall correctly for 1 section (but mind there are specific rules of targeting sections).

3. Its maximum+maximum on all upgrades that use energy.

4. Energy remains until spend.

I endorse Vitalis's answers, and for Reinforce, here's the relevant section of the Huge Ship Rules (emphasis added):

Reinforce [ ]

Ships with the action icon in their action bar may perform the reinforce action. To perform this action, place one reinforce token next to either the fore or aft section of the ship.

When a ship with a reinforce token is defending, the reinforce token adds one result to its defense roll, but only if that token is assigned to the targeted section.

This effect does not spend the reinforce token; thus, a reinforce token can provide this effect for multiple attacks during a single round.

During the End phase, remove all reinforce tokens along with focus and evade tokens.

And yeah, it's a good idea to review the "Targeting a Huge Ship" section, also on page 2, for the rules on when an attacking ship can't just target the section that isn't reinforced.

Its maximum+maximum on all upgrades that use energy.

Just want to clarify, you start with maximum energy on both the ship and it's upgrades, NOT you get double maximum energy to start with

Regarding actions, first the fore section can take an action from the fore section card or an upgrade card on that section. Then the Aft section does the same. Many actions target the whole ship, like Target Lock. Other actiond affect one section but not necessarily the section doing the action, like Reinforce.

The energy is a bit tricky. In standard and cinematic play you start with no energy.

However most people opt to play using the epic tournament rules. Under these rules the ship starts with full energy, plus full energy on all hard point secondary weapons. But not other upgrade cards with an energy limit such as ionisation reactor.
