Lando Unloved.

By R5D8, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I've often wondered why everybody's, or perhaps nobody's, favorite smooth talking gambler doesn't show up more often.

Lando Calrissian - 44

- Veteran Instincts - 1

- Recon Specialist - 3

- Jan Ors - 2

Corran Horn - 35

- Push the Limit - 3

- Engine Upgrade - 4

- Advanced Sensors - 3

- R2-D2 - 4

The thought here being that as long as Corran stays somewhat close to Lando, he becomes one maneuverable son of a gun, while Lando just keeps rolling with his constant evade token. Corran is getting his Advanced Sensors Barrel Roll or Boost, then the other, then a green maneuver to regen a shield and lose stress, then Lando goes with his green maneuver and lets Corran Target Lock... or anything that wasn't done during his turn.

Does it lack firepower? Too much Zoom and not enough Boom? I threw Corran in there just cuz of Advanced Sensors, but really anyone could get placed there.

Hmmm... I am actually going to run General Calrissian in my next tournament. I agree that his ability to give an extra action is under appreciated, espescially when you add greens (and speed) with Nien Nunb, he is obviously overshadowed by Han "shoots first" Solo and Chewie "don't care about crits" Chewbacca.

"Leading the Assault" - 98pts.

Wedge Antilles - 29

- Stay on Target - 2

- Flechette Torpedoes - 2

- Targeting Astromech - 2

- Integrated Astromech - 0

35pts. nicknamed "Terror Ace" on the thread where I first saw it. Wedge still gets a potent target lock from TargetAstro against a reduced agility target when doing a red and he can react to unexpected maneuvers with Stay on Target (which are all red maneuvers).

Lando Calrissian - 44

- Veteran Instincts - 1

- Homing Missiles - 5

- Engine Upgrade - 4

- Nien Nunb - 1

- Luke Skywalker - 7

- Millenium Falcon - 1

63pts. "General Calrissian" is just too thematic to pass up! The original list had VI Han with Wedge to take care of anything over his PS, but I think any Fat Falcon can do that job well enough and Wedge still dies too fast with only getting target locks. So "General Calrissian" at the same PS can move first if Wedge is unstressed to give him free focus, or after if Wedge needs to clear stress to get the free action. I am considering dropping the munitions and trade integrated on Wedge for Engine upgrade to give him more options on that free action from Lando though.

There's got to be some way to get ptl on lando without messing up the movement order.

Seems like a perfect fit since he's going to be doing greens most of the time anyway...

I am finding that movement is going to be this build's biggest weakness. Especially when facing a phantom with an ace like soontir fel equiped with push the limit and vet instincts and another ace or vader added.

Just moving these two around and staying in range one is hard enough. Throw in couple of arch dodgers and its a mess.
