My review of Deadpool....

By T70 Driver, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Just got out of a Deadpool showing and have just two words to describe it.....FREAKING AWESOME!!!! When I saw how the opening credits were done, I knew they had done it right. Multiple 4th wall breakage, including a 4th wall break INSIDE of a 4th wall break. Whoever they got to voice Colossus was perfect for the role. Best superhero film ever? Maybe not but this one is right up there with it.

Oh and it's definitely NOT a film you can bring your kids to. The R rating is well deserved.

There was one point where I was trying to force myself to stop laughing. I was losing track of the movie.

including a 4th wall break INSIDE of a 4th wall break.

That's like... 16 walls!

You all stayed after the credits rolled, right?

Why? The movie was over. You should have gone home.

Yeah I had trouble getting my breath in parts Ryan Reynolds did great I look forward to the sequel.

Chacka ca chow

I was worried they weren't going to mention chimichangas but they were just letting the suspense build.

There's two things I can say about it.

First it was a Deadpool movie. It did exactly what it should've to be true to the character. The only thing it "lacked" was the voices in his head. But that wouldn't of likely translated well to a movie, would've added a lot more dialog, and was nicely replaced by the 4th wall breaks.

In the movie, talking to the audience was part of him being crazy and it worked very well. I was thinking about it and realized that in the flashbacks he never breaks the 4th wall. It was something he started to do after he became Captain Deadpool.

Second, it completely redeemed the disaster that Deadpool was in the Wolverine movie. I loved the line about sewing his mouth shut. That and the "It's almost like you studio couldn't afford more X-Men.

I too loved the opening credits, and the ultraviolence with Angel of the Morning for the soundtrack. It showed quite clearly this was going to be done right.

It was rude, crude, fairly raunchy... which means it was quintessential Deadpool

I think I might have missed a few jokes because I was laughing so hard at other ones.

Agreed. they got it right, from the beiginnig of the credits and never dropped the ball.

My buddy David almost lost it when Deadpool started talking about masturbating with his tiny regrowing hand...

More spoilers in my comment but since this is like the 8th post with a movie spoiler... (that means stop here.

Amazing.

Deadpool. Bob. Getting the X-men right. Proper costumes and appearances and all. Star Wars joke. Best cab driver ever.

Took the gf for Valentine's day and it did not disappoint as a date movie, action movie, or super hero movie.

I'll probably need a couple more viewings to catch all the subtle references.

Loved the quick shot of the action figure.

Voices may come in later remember they weren't always there, the more he died the more insane he became so to date he's died once and suffered one head wound he's still fairly compos mentis.

I'm not too confident on the voices being able to transfer very well to the screen.

Subtitles maybe?

You mean like this?

Yes. Wait! I got subtitles now?

You're not suposed to read this! This is for the audience!

But I wanna!

No. Great, now he's arguing with his own subtitles.

I'm sure I saw a few panicking parents fleeing the showing I went to after being dumb enough to bring their kids but definitely the most hilarious Marval movie so far.

Aww poor kids.

While it was nothing like the number of small children I saw at the Ted premier, there were more than a few tweens at the showing I went to. It's like parents don't even bother to look at the rating and are just like "Oh, a superhero movie! That'll be good, clean family fun!"

It bothers me a great deal when people don't bother looking at the rating and then get bent out shape when there's too much sex and/or violence.

If you don't want your kids exposed to that, that's up to you. But if you can't bother to look at the rating, which is not exactly hidden info, then you have only yourself to blame.

It's like video games... Some people go on about how violent they are, and how they're harmful to kids, but don't bother paying a moment's attention to the rating and then are shocked when they found out what was the GTA series was about.

Well over here in good old Blighty age limits Arnt just a recommendation like in the colonies.
