Shouldn't we be getting a new wave announcement soon? The latest wave was announced last July and is currently due out any day. In the past we have always gotten the next announcement quite a while before the latest wave was due to hit. Plus there was nothing at the Toy Fair, so I am kind of assuming we will hear something soon.
Aren't We Due a New Wave?
At least we are still waiting for something, unlike armada guys :-D
Edited by NitratasI have seen it speculated that FFG doesn't want to announce anything new until the new trade terms for online sales take effect in April. If they announced now, then the online retailers could put up pre-orders before the change takes effect.
I have no idea if that is a plausible theory.
Chinese New Year is also going on now and that has caused HUGE delays for x-wing in the past. There is the possibility that they don't want to announce new stuff until they are more certain of the timetable for stuff getting shipped.
Wave 2 of armada hit stores a couple months ago and we still haven't gotten an announcement about the next release.
Could also be waiting for Mickey Mouse to make up his mind on what to push next. Maybe something big, like TFA?

It is way too soon for Imperial Assault to go to TFA expansions. The game is still underdeveloped when contained to the OT. There is a lot more to be done before that territory is explored. X-Wing on the other hand is dying for something new. Unfortunately TFA didn't introduce any new, or radically different ships. One of my problems with the movie, but I digress.

One of many. I hope to never see TFA stuff. I know I'm in the minority. I found the movie tedious. As Dpb said, the film introduced nothing new. It would simply be miniatures. I hope IA never goes outside of the OT. It will start becoming like SWM which by the end I utterly loathed for all the arbitrary, under-costed, OP characters.
Once Rebels is over, the Rebels crew and characters would make a really good expansion. The show is basically an IA campaign in an of itself. They definitely shouldn't tap the new material until more of it is fleshed out and developed though.

A minority maybe, but a *vocal minority.
The mouse will push what makes money. They killed wolverine in the comics because they didn't have films rights to him, and I don't expect them to treat this IP any more gently. That said, if they want to force the issue and push their new crap, that's what they're gonna do.

I agree, I didn't really enjoy TFA much. I thought it was rehashed, (something many people surprisingly seemed to enjoy). Didn't bring anything new, had a horrid plot, littered with pot-holes. Mishandled Luke as a character terribly, etc. I could go on and on but will stop myself here. The one thing I enjoyed was Harrison Ford as Han again. Anyway, I am a Star Wars fan who is still keeping the EU story as how Star Wars really goes. TFA can be in its own alternate universe for me. It is "Legends" to me. Not the other way around.

I really dislike the Rebels animation style, but find the story okay if binge watched. I was really sore about TCW being cancelled, especially when it was going to naturally end with season eight and was already written all the way through, and season 7 was well underway in production. Anyway, I wouldn't mind Rebels in IA, but it would have to be after the OT is thoroughly explored. Rebels is fun at times, childish at others, but hey, I have great faith in Dave Filoni. I met the guy once, he is really cool and very passionate about Star Wars as a story. I sometimes disagree with his decisions, but the same can be said of Lucas and he gave us the OT.

I doubt FFG is waiting for a 'go-ahead' on the next expansion and that it will be TFA related. They are probably already play-testing/balancing the few next expansions.

I think someone said their full release schedule is developed 18 months in advance. So I am sure that they already have all of 2016 planned. I am just wondering when it'll finally be announced. Crazy that the latest wave's announcement was way back in early July.
Edited by dpb1298Most likely we'll see something mid-march as that was when Twin Shadows was announced. That may be FFGs expansion schedule for IA.
Don't they usually announce around the same time as the previous products are released?
That would mean an announcement in the next couple of weeks given that the bantha should be available next week.
But the ffg release schedule has been very bare since the new online policy was announced so maybe they will delay until April.
There MAY be some info released from Toy Fair New York which is on now. Haven't seen anything yet, but it just started.
There are several things I would love to see:
Prebuilt tile set in the shape of a Gozanti Cruiser and its, likely, two decks. Big enough for a map mission wise. You get a new mechanic for turbolifts (traveling to another map. The heroes can steal cargo, capture the ship, etc.
The Force Awakens Core Set. Like it or not, the movie was a success, and going by released toys, plenty to include. Imperial Assault already has time periods in the game, so it is likely. However, FFG may wait till episode VIII.
TIE pilot and engineering crew minis, as well as rebel pilots. Heck, it is possible to include a ship based game with mechanics where the heroes are in vehicle and crewing stations, making repairs, firing guns, etc. While a ground assault is going. This is NOT likely though. Combine that with the gozanti above and it could be fun idea.

Not likely, that would be way too big for a single mission.
No. This is Imperial Assault, not First Order assault.
Not likely.
Edited by patrickmahanRebel teams trying to capture a squadron? I think that there's a lot to be done there! It would take some time to write, though.
Personally (as in, I have no actual knowledge of any of this), I wouldn't expect TFA campaigns until after Episode 8 is done and 9 is fully written and approved. Once that story is done it's possible to figure where the characters (old or new) go.
There are still so many SW figures left to do. Dewback patrols, tauntaun riders, some extra droids, jawas, AT-AT drivers, TIE pilots, rebel pilots, etc. And some more poses wouldn't be unwelcome, either.
Gammoreans, ugnaughts, ithorians, bib fortuna, jabba, Endor, Dash, lobot,... So much left to do. If like first order stuff as a 'part two' sequel expansion.
I've mentioned this before but the base game came out at a very similar time as RTH did and twin shadows wasn't announced till mid March. I fully expect a small expansion to be announced in that time frame; what it is remains to be seen (I'm in camp Dathomir but I don't think anyone is really confident).
Also I'm pretty sure that the Xwing force awakens core set is the first time FFG have done anything outside the time of the Empire, they just seem to prefer that era.
Edited by NorgrathYeah, Sadly. I'd like prequel era X-wing, Armada, and Imperial Assault.
Edited by ForceSensitiveI think we're due for a mini-expansion centered around Bespin for the next wave.

That's what I'm hoping for. Bespin / Bounty Hunters with Bossk, Zuckuss, and 4LOM. On the good side Lando, Lobot and a pack of Bespin Security.

Question is, what would they add for the empire? I mean, the empire is doing great on pieces, but they've released something with every set so far. (Yes I know there's a ****ton of obscure troopers out there, but what are they likely to release?)

Bespin would be a reasonable place to introduce jumptroopers... Have tiles that have balconies/open air between bridges, and jump troopers gain mobile, allowing them to cross the impassable terrain between the bridges. Only thing is, since no bridges/platforms in star wars have hand rails, should there BE impassable terrain on the edges????
Can you really introduce jumptroopers without damaging the value of the Techno Superiority deck? It would be reasonable, I can't argue that.
Here's the thing, while FFG seems to be willing to pull from obscure sources, they dont seem willing to just "make crap up" and that limits them (unlike Games Workshop, who is more than happy to make crap up at random). BUT...
The Scout troops are the only film trooper type unmade so far (other than the black uniforms, but that's another topic). They dont need a ranged/sniper piece, they have the HKs. They dont need a blast/rocket unit, they have heavies. Snowtrooper I count as defense troopers, with their regeneration. Scouts will be (theoretic) the mobility niche trooper.
What other niches are there?
