I'm wondering if they will still do a Jax, but only after, again, they get an actor and can assign a face to the figure. That might be the first alternate sculpt of a figure too, RGChamp/Jax.
Just use Jax from Mortal Kombat and call it a day.

We, as the star wars fans, a minority, cannot stand by (or worse, cheer) as "the man" steals what is ours, repackages it in a sanitized mass-marketable form, and sells it back to us.
We can do jack about it. But Disney is doing nothing that Lucas himself didn't do both in the OT and the prequels. So if you don't like what they're doing now, I question if you've ever actually been a Star Wars fan in the first place.
And again, FFG has about as much say in things as we do. If LFL won't approve it, they don't get to do it.
I am serious, and I do speak with my wallet. Other than this single board game, I dont touch Star Wars products made after October 2012.
This forum gives me a podium to say things, occasionally, with a further reach than my voice carries. I try not to make too much of a nuisance of myself, but I am passionate on the subject.
This forum gives me a podium to say things
But this doesn't give you a podium to reach anyone that matters.
FFG has no choice in what they produce really. Everything even the news articles apparently have to be approved by LFL/Disney. That means regardless of if they want to Mara or Starkiller or not. They actually have no say over the matter.
If you think any of us are going to stop buying and enjoying Star Wars products because you are offended by them... Then you are truly delusional.
Feel free to say what you want, but don't think your opinion on this actually matters to anyone but yourself.

I think you are overstating things a bit. I have never gotten the impression that Disney, LFL or the storygroup is dictating what FFG puts into their games, only that they have to approve of FFGs decisions, essentially they have veto power, but FFG is still deciding what they want to include.
FFG says, for example, that they want to include Mara Jade in one of their games. They submit a proposal for the next expansion, which includes MJ, LFL comes back and says yes or no (or possibly yes, with some provisos), but if FFG DOESN'T want the next Imperial Assault expansion to be based on the Force Awakens, LFL isn't going to tell they they have to do it anyway.
Basically, I don't think FFG's games rank high enough for the marketing department to care what specifically is in them, so it is just the story group overseeing things to make sure nothing contradictory creeps in (if that, I am still not convinced the SG is actually doing the job that we all think they are doing).
Having been into collecting Star Wars merchandise, I agree with Forgottenlore. Disney approves products for Star Wars, but otherwise it's on the individual company to decide in what direction to go. And after awhile those companies get an idea of what will sell and what will get shot-down in the planning phase.
For all we know Disney is planning a Mara Jade in the new trilogy and wants to avoid anything directly tied to her just yet. She could very well be on a blacklist somewhere as untouchable. In any case, Disney isn't making this game and thus don't really have that much impact on basic ideas - that's what FFG is for. Disney will, as mentioned, veto material or say "make more TFA/Rebel stuff" and that's about it. Bigger companies like Hasbro or Sideshow are forced to more directly work hand-in-hand with Disney on Star Wars products.
@Forgottenlore
Hate to be the bearer of awkward news but since the Disney take over became complete there have been more than a few game design decisions that have been 'pushed' onto FFG by the IP owners. The Ghost as a standard play ship, from what I've gathered piecemeal from a few plasterers, was one such decision. Mind you I would rather see the obtusely large Ghost in standard than Epic only. I feel it oddly makes more sense there. Or more accurately would make less sense as a Huge. With that in mind, I'm off the opinion that we will see a Rebels expansion sooner than later. Either way we get more IA so I don't care.
I'm certain we will get Rebels content for IA. The show is great and is practically custom made for IA. I just hope it is not until much later, after the show has developed extensively, so that the IA content can be more strongly themed to the characters. If they released the Rebels crew now it would basically be a watered down, generic expansion with a Rebels theme pasted on. If they wait, we can get a Rebels IA campaign that is directly inspired by the adventures on the show.
Not sure what you mean by that.Has she been re-canonized then?
You aren't? Really?

The biggest question is if they do the Rebels series will the heroes be the rebel characters which there is 6 of which is almost another core set or will they be allies the player can earn. In which case 3-6 expansion packs.

I am hoping for a big box on this, possibly titled something like 'smuggling to lothal' whereby the rebels heros are in the big box. Or at least a series of expansions with them all in one wave. I would buy them either way, really enjoy that series
Not me, I'd definitely skip any 'rebels' themed expansions. Wouldn't even consider it.

I'd take Rebels over The Force Awakens. I'd take the holiday special over The Force Awakens. Heck, I'd take something with Channing Tatum over The Force Awakens... or was he in that too?
I think you are overstating things a bit.
No, but I may not of been clear. My point was more that even if FFG wanted to put Mara Jade into the game, they can only do so if LFL allows them to do so. They can make new stuff, and their stuff is by and large not canon. But everything they make has to be approved, and that means LFL ultimately decides everything.
LFL could if they wanted to tell FFG that they have to make a Mara Jade model for IA, or they could tell them that they can never use Mara for the game.
My issue was this 'fight the man' post made by Sam, because while we may or may not care what LFL considers canon, FFG cares a great deal
I highly doubt that Disney plans to bring Mara Jade back. Besides, however they did do it, there is a 99% chance that it would be unfitting and sub-par to the EU story.
*sigh* Gotta love Star Wars fans, they sure hate their Star Wars.

There were at least couple of interviews with the designers where they stated that their goal is to make new heroes with their own new stories that you create through gameplay. Not reliving already existing heroes and their stories.

Riiight.. I mean they might kill her off then clone her, callling her Maaaaara or something. *rolls eyes*
Well, some of us hate certain interpretations of Star Wars. But you have to give us some credit. Not to many franchises have 98% of what the fans know and love retconned by a new owner, just so they can do whatever they want with it. I agree that those who disowned RotJ due to Ewoks were being insane and hating on what they professed to love, but bashing on Disney for killing Clone Wars during production, Sword of the Jedi trilogy, Star Wars 1313, Star Wars live action series, shutting down Lucas Arts and firing almost everyone etc, just so they can claim success for everything is worthy of backlash (btw, Clone Wars averaged 2.5 mil viewers, Rebels averages 0.5). I don't hate all the new stuff Disney has put out. I am enjoying the Vader comic, Rebels in moderation etc. What I hate is Disney's business model. They are all or nothing. They want their stamp on everything and can't stand to see something that wasn't made by them be successful. I would have had no problem with Rebels replacing The Clone Wars after it ended, (it was scheduled to end with season 8, which had already been written completely, and the cgi was almost finished with season 7!), but Disney refused to let it end naturally, they instantly replaced everything with their own interpretation, aimed at making money, and devoid of the heart that was poured into the EU.

My problem with TFA. No heart. It was a money-making vehicle with no original content meant solely to capitalize on the Star Wars brand and remake the cost of the franchise. Love all of the previous movies, faults and all. At least they were original and done with the purpose of telling a good story.
Well, some of us hate certain interpretations of Star Wars.
Then don't consume those interpretations.

Happens constantly in comic books. Just about every time a title gets a new writer in fact.
but bashing on Disney for killing Clone Wars during production
That makes perfect sense. They wanted people to focus on the OT and beyond.
shutting down Lucas Arts and firing almost everyone etc,
Shutting down LA was because they already had a video game company and didn't need another one.
They want their stamp on everything and can't stand to see something that wasn't made by them be successful.
Did you type that with a tinhat on? Because you're well into the realms of conspiracy theory now. What Disney cares about is money, not who gets credit for what.

Not true, they let some novels be finished and let's be honest here. 50% or more of the EU was pure crap, it was at best official fanfic and little else. It had no more heart in it then the new canon does. But I do know that's hard to see sometimes with the rose colored glasses on.
This all is once again proof that there are Star Wars fans and then there are EU fans.
It was a money-making vehicle with no original content
You mean just like the OT was a money making vehicle in which decisions were made purely upon what would sell the most toys. Or how it was more or less a direct copy of other stories?
meant solely to capitalize on the Star Wars brand and remake the cost of the franchise.
The biggest complaint among most people was how the prequels departed from the OT so much, and how the story behind them was crap.
So quite naturally they returned to what made the OT so popular.

Just curious, why do you feel the need to defend Disney so much? I think we can all agree that Disney is much more monetarily focused than the people of the past who put long hard work into Star Wars. I am also surprised to see you justify firing an entire studio just because they were expendable. Where else do you think they are going to find a job making Star Wars games if Disney doesn't want them.

I disagree with that to some point. For example in some of the more recent Rebels episodes we see appearances by
Clone Trooper Leader Rex
a fan favourite from the Clone War. Alot of what Disney seems to be doing is writing the EU stuff in a way that makes some sense and is a complete wreck of a narrative. One of my favourite episodes from rebels is the discovery the prototype B wing and holy crap did it make me feel awesome to see that ship and instantly recognise not only is it a B wing but now i know where it came from.
Basically I think Disney is taking what was good from the EU (so hopefully Mara Jade and Kyle Katarn) and fitting them into the story of Starwars in a way that makes more sense.
