Disapointing Non-Dynamic poses.

By dpb1298, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I also like it as a pose for an officer. Sure, I wouldn't want a whole load of characters like that, but an officer should be seen either giving orders (like the normal "Imperial Officer"), or looking calmly serious. No dynamic action poses thank you. Or shouting... very undignified.

As to other irritating "dynamic poses" is the historic "man swinging rifle as a club" figure. Seems to be at least one in every pack of plastic ww2 figures, and the specificity annoyed me, as well as the fact that he will always be mid swing with his rifle for ever...

Poses for wargames should generally look like they are moving, or attacking, but in a normal way, not some over committed nonsense.

You know what poses get me?

The Stormtroopers holding their E-11s at arms length, double fisted on the pistol grip like a twelve year old.

That's not how you rifle, silly stormtroopers.

that pose works for luke, because that's what he does in ANH.

I don't recall the stormtroopers doing that. Most seem to sorta shoot from the hip.

Without a functional stock, you would treat the blaster the same was as a machine pistol, and fire it either braced against a strap (http://www.scopeandlaser.com/files/mid/9081_0.jpg), or out in front of you like any other pistol, if you were trying for more accurate shooting.

the E-11 has never functioned as an SMG in any video game, movie etc. It is a Blaster Rifle.

Only because we've been told its a "blaster rifle". In form and function, it is not.

We've been told it is a blaster rifle, but in form and function, it is not.

We're told Stormtroopers are... well... Stormtroopers, but in form and function, they are not.

EVERYTHING WE HAVE BEEN TOLD IS A LIE. THE DEATH STAR EXPLOSION IN A NEW HOPE WAS A FALSE FLAG EXERCISE. PLASTEEL MELTS AT 1000 KELVIN BUT PROTON TORPEDOES EXPLODE AT 800 KELVIN.

I may have had too much coffee.

I will say that I always thought the RGC pose was pretty cool, and it's a contrast to the way the RGs look. I think they look good when they're next to one another on the tabletop.

Come on now, folks. Let's not think too much about this.

Stormtroopers fire rifles either from the hip, or like pistols, never use the folding stocks, die in droves wearing armor that does nothing...

We can't do anything about this. It's the way it is.

I just wish the guy doing the sculpting would be like "Ya know what, not THIS stormtrooper. THIS stormtrooper is gonna look like a badass"

Then again, wish in one hand and Sith in the other, right?

I have to say the only pose I'm that fussed about so far is Leia. She should be looking serious and commanding, or bad-ass. As it is, with her hand on her hip and leaning slightly to one side, it's a borderline pin-up pose. Now, if she were in her gold bikini, fair enough...

But she's dressed as a military and political leader, and also (as seen in the Death Star detention cells) knows how to fire a **** E-11 properly! I would have much preferred a more combat pose, or a thoughtful, senatorial pose. I also think she would have been best done in her classic white dress and Danish-Pastry haircut, but that boat has probably sailed...

Her pose is taken directly from TESB. Bespin escape, right after R2 mistakes a power socket for a computer terminal.

There are much less dynamic sculpts, like the AT-ST, the Hover Tank, and don't get me started on the bantha... just standin' around being all lazy...

They even used the (almost) same pose in this Battlefront image.

This image was a perfect reference for painting Leia.

Looks like the pose was from before ESB.

I'd honestly have preferred a sculpt more in line with the art on her card, but it's not a huge deal.
