With a Wave 9 announcement coming soon, the shortage of drool worthy ships and after replying to this post, it got me thinking.

So I'm talking to those of you who have bought or want to buy every single ship out there.

But is there a possible, future release small/large ship that you would never, ever pick up? Even if it had totally awesome, can’t miss upgrade card, like “Luke’s Severed Hand” that gave you 5 extra attack dice. But if that were the case, you'd buy the pack and then burn the ship.

When it was first announced, I thought the TIE/IT Interdictor/Punisher would be that first ship that I won’t buy. (sorry if you’re a fan) But, I’m now the proud owner of the uninspired super sized TIE Bomber.

Now I can, with fair confidence say that I would never buy one of these:

Though I’m sure there are some out there who’d love to get one.

Where do you draw the line? Everyone has one.

Just to keep things interesting, let’s try to keep out the pretty much universally hated Yuuzhan Vong out of this.

Id be ok with an 8 point ugly under 2 conditions:

You can only fly one in a list

It gets 2 attack max maybe 1 with a crew slot.

OP said it really. In a galaxy that doesn't make much since sometimes, uglys are just dumb. No reason at all you would take scrap parts and mash them together unless it gave you some benefit, but IIRC uglys were seriously underperforming ships. It would have been way better to sell the scrap and buy something, even a crappy something, that was better, given the amount of labor that would be necessary to make even a single ugly. No way there would be tons of those flying around.

I am not the first to say it, but you will NEVER see Uglies in the game. They are pointless and by nature unique, so mass producing a model for it that looks alike would be counter-intuitive. FFG is already on record as saying they will never include them, so please move on.

Not sure I would dread this one exactly, but I'm not keen on them making the Missile Boat. TIE Defender was just really awesome, the porche of combat vehicles. Missile Boat was... we'll just call it not fun.

I wouldn't be a fan of seeing them pop in, especially while at least 2/3s of the factions still have a deep well to draw ships and pilots out of. Rebels... maybe not so much, but there's still a handful of possibilities floating out there. Heck, even when they run out of material even from the deepest recesses of canon there's nothing stopping them from doing what they did with the Decimator and the Raider and just drawing up something new alongside The Mouse.

The one REALISTIC possibility I'd dread would be the H-Wing. Just such a ridiculous design in the least fun way possible and quite possibly the ugliest thing I've ever seen. Sadly, the Rebels are circling the drain with canon/EU small-base candidates so it's probably just a matter of time until FFG is forced to tap the H-Wing to fill out an expansion. And then I will do whatever I can in my power to avoid actually having to buy one.

The closest they could come to a ship I would NEVER buy would be the TIE experimental mk1

I'd never buy these cylon rip-off with their uncomfortable sexually suggestive grins. Dark Empire can rot in the ground under all the legends.

M-class starfighter. Basically an ugler Y-wing.

I've basically drawn my line just after the Missile Boat and Gunship. They would at least add something unique to the Empire's bomber lineup: a SLAM-capable high speed bomber with 3-4 attack dice (depending on price).

Most of this non-rebels stuff that gets suggested is hideous from an aesthetic point of view, but pointless from a design one. How is the 'T-Wing' any different from an A-Wing? etc.

Considering what an amazing job FFG did on the K-Wing, I'm reluctant to rule out anything.

The decimator is from Star Wars Galaxies rather than an ffg origional.

In answer to the origional question: In vague order of "hell no".

Nemesis Class gunship: Imperial (The thing which looks like a terminator Hunter Kiler with big external jet engines in The Force Unleashed 2). It's just not a design I like in starwars. Seems out of place especially as an imperial ship.

R-41 Starchaser: Rebels/ Scum... I know it's been in a lot of media but its always looked sort of "generic computer game space fighter" to me.

Sheathipede Sepratist shuttle: Imperial/Scum. I only mention this one as it's appeared in some art and games as in use post clone wars. I've got no issue with fundamentally under armed ships and there are a few without weapons I would love to see... but not this one.

YKL-37R Nova Courier: Rebel. Again hiddeously generic.

I was going to stick the IDT (imperial dropship transport) on the list but I actually might give it a chance... but I would rather have a sentinel.

Maybe the style of DE was...weird but still its one of the best moments in EU...ee...Legends....

There is one reason for Uglies in the Starwars universe, if you had a whole bunch of Tie fighter cockpits and a bunch of lets say Y-wing engines (making a DIE-wing) you could slap them together to bolster the units you have but can't afford to get good ships for. This is something pirates would probably do. The only Ugly I would love to see in the game is the Death Seed. Beyond that I wouldn't want to see any.

Anyone truly addicted to plastic crack as I am, will always buy anything that FFG produces. After all, there is no will power to resist.

EDIT: And just to be clear, that is multiples of anything that FFG produces. I believe my collection and storage of same is now in excess of $5K.

The Assault Gunboat.

ASSUMING.

That it is as hair-ripping-out annoying as it is in the X-Wing v. TIE Fighter games.

Because **** that was annoying. In XvT it was basically the ultimate jouster. Ridiculous shields and hull, ultra long range damage potential.

But frankly, i'm not sure that the Assault Gunboat would even have a purpose in X-Wing at all. I mean, what, it's gonna have shields but do everything a TIE Bomber or Punisher already does? I can promise you it won't have 3 attack either, considering it's primary weapon armament is identical to a Z-95s-- 2 KX5 laser cannons. All it's got going for it over other bombers is a cannon slot, and i promise you that the gunboat will turn out to be the Imperial B-Wing before anything else, and honestly that just feels and sounds dumb. Heavy shields and cannons and poor maneuverability and stuff is a distinctly Rebel thing. Giving that to the Empire A) Is just lazy design, B) Betrays the universal design shared by almost all Imperial ships, C) Gives the Empire yet another distinct advantage over Rebel ships, because you KNOW that Rebels do not have a ship that edges on Imperial territory. Don't even say the A-Wing. it's a TIE/FO that is more expensive and a fix later it still has no tournament presence.

Long story short, the XG-1, in my opinion, has the potential to be the worst thing to happen to this game, and it doesnt surprise me that FFG has intentionally ignored it for other, more obscure ships.

I think that's the first time... In a very long time I've seen someone mention imperials having an advantage compared to rebels...

Anyways, there is still a plethora of ships. I don't want uglies in the game, as others have brought out, its a stupid idea. Why would you have enough parts to slap multiples of them together and not just make a salvage ship of the same type? I mean even in the books, they seem to still have the wings and cockpits of the same ship but decided the thing that was least efficient, mix and matching, was the best idea. Not to mention interfacing problems...

Also, yeah, like the raider they might start to develop other ships, I only see repaints as one offs with box sets and not as a full wave.

PS its already been said, but the decimator has been around a lot longer then this game. It is also featured in the star wars commander game.

Out of all the uglies I've seen, that one is reasonably cool looking and I'd be fine with that one.

I dread every single ship that not a TIE Avenger or Assault Gunboat.

Im not a fan of people saying "I don't like X so I don't want it in product X" Having an opinion on something is cool but trying to enforce it on others is crap.

And I will go on record for saying I like the H-Wing, it looks like the next generation of Y-Wing.

And I like Uglys, but if FFG do make em they would need to release them as a muti-part set. Wings, engines, hulls all separate so you can put together a few individual looking ships.
