Pockets or adv homing for a tie adv. Prototype swarm?

By joyrock, in X-Wing

Thinking of running a silly, fun swarm of the guys since I'm getting so many for guidance chips, and I can't decide if I'd be better running homing and getting the target lock synergy from the title, or running Pockets for the huge burst.

Advanced Homing Missiles are a pretty bad idea. I doubt you'll get to attack with many of them.

yeah they both kinda suck, with the normally aight prockets clashing with the tie/v1 title

ion pulse missiles it is!

But so little damage lol

same damage as advance homing, given the right amount of luck, but IPMs have far more utility in ionization (guaranteed on hit, rather than some lame duck crit you can only inflict at range 2 maybe)

it's the only missile capable of dealing 15 damage by sending a decimator careening off the table ;) and otherwise it sets up shots for the rest of the squad

Five TAPs with title, Proton Rockets, Guidance Chips. When you get to fire them, they're all but assured to roll 4+hits. And after you use the missile, each pilot has improved action economy.

A buddy did very well last year with 5 A wings with Proton Rockets. He plans to change it to the list above. The keys to such a list are blocking and target priority. Don't waste your missiles on tune wrong ship, but in order to shoot them at all, you have to catch aces in a net and deny them actions.
