How is FFG supposed to know...?

By Mikael Hasselstein, in Star Wars: Armada

Ewww, don't call it flak. This isn't real, modern warfare, it's magical fantasy StarWarsland warfare! Using words like that takes the magic (and fantasy) out of it.

If your sense of "magic" and "fantasy" is ruined by using an accurate and shorter term for "anti-squadron attack," then flak you.

... ;)

I'm not going to stop calling it flak, though.

****, I want to come back with some clever flak based retort, but I can't think of one! If I think of one will you change your mind?

It might be due to trying to learn Japanese, but flak and frak are very similar to my ear. And if you want futuristic, isn't frak a cuss word? Using flak against the enemy is therefore the equivilent of trying to take down the enemy with harsh language.

*looks at the general effectiveness of most ships' anti-squadron fire*

On second thoughts, it really is about as effective as harsh language. Flak it is then! ;)

I'm afraid not, but I appreciate you taking my response in the silly sense it was intended. Flak is just much easier to say/type and it doesn't bother me.

"Frak" was a replacement for "f*ck" on Battlestar Galactica so they could swear freely while not actually swearing. Otherwise, it doesn't really mean anything in terms of a curse word outside of that setting. I do agree that aggressive cursing is about as effective as most ships' flak, however, so it is appropriate!

You're gorram right it is.

I'm not even sorry about that terrible joke.

I think certain Warhammer 40k authors use frak as well.

Frak grenades and flashlights.
