gonk

Probably too early to ask this question, but Gonk says action:place one shield token on this card, and action, place one shield token on your ship, but nowhere does it say how many shield tokens I can have on the card at one time. Is it going to be like Moldy Crow where I can just store 3 or 4 up st the beginning of the game, or can I only have one token on the card at a time?

The card states no limit to the shield tokens you can bank. But you can only get one a turn. And I can't see an easy way to get and spend one in the same turn. Maybe squad leader on another ship.

And yeah, the number of token on GONK is unlimited. Cards do what they say, no more, no less. No limit is printed, so none exists.

No, you still can't do the same action more than once in a round. And whichever option you choose, banking or regenerating, you're still doing a 'Gonk' action.

I don't think this holds up. They're not the same action, they're two different actions. The rule doesn't prevent you from using the same card twice, it prevents you from using the same action twice.

These are no more the same action than Expert Handling and Rage would be on an A-Wing. Or for that matter, boost and barrel roll on an Interceptor, which appear on the same card.

Because this is the first Upgrade to feature two different options for an action, I'm sure it's bound to be in the FAQ soon. So, we'll just have to wait and see.

Yeah, I concur.

I really hope there will be a big FAQ update shortly after the wave drops, because there are a tonne of outstanding items from the previews (and from previous releases) that could use formal clarification.

Without a doubt. :)

I agree with the side that says you can do noth. Cards have had or clauses before so why not use one here if you cant do both in a round...

I think they're two separate actions so you could do both in theory. Because otherwise they could just word it Action: Gain a shield or remove a shield rather than having it be two separate actions.

I definitely think there would have been an "or" in the space between the two actions if we could not do both in the same round. As there is no way to do this without gaining stress, it is going to be situational at best anyway... and even if you could do both in the same round you are taking away all offensive and defensive power for your ship that round. As your opponent, I thoroughly encourage you to gain a shield token and then take a stress to add it to your ship! Please, feel free!

Which is kind of how Miranda is worded, so there's a vague precedent in that.

I agree with the idea that it's two different, and otherwise unconnected, actions. EI should let you do both.

Just bank a bunch of Shield tokens during the opening rounds. Then later on, and especially if you have PtL, you can nab a Shield token later - and with PtL still do something from your Action Bar.

I like banking up, ptl, and having my mod open istead of using EI. Id only use EI if I had some end of turn/after attack action to then push to Gonk recovery or shield storage.

Sorry? Push the Limit to use Gonk? Is that what you're try to say?

I would imagine using PTL after Gonk for his normal action.

I would hope that, as Gonk's actions aren't on your action bar, and therefore can't be PTLd.

Yes, he's (from my view) suggesting the more flexible PtL to Gonk/Action Bar than just relying on EI to double Gonk

Gonk into PTL is what I meant.

Yep...this :)

Wired would be nice a on a ship that takes EI and plans on frequent double-gonking.
