Bodyguard possibility...

By Rhoaran, in X-Wing

So we all know bodyguard is a failed card.

●EPT slot

●2pts

●requires focus

●range limitation

●PS restriction

●Multi-ship combo

All this ^^^ for one more fickle green die.

But if any ship can make this usable, it the JM5K. There is great synergy between Bodyguard, R4 Agromech, and recon spec. Get two focus, spend 1 to trigger bodyguard, grab TL from R4, fire double modified shot...not terrible.

The interesting thing to me is that triggering R4 at the beginning of the combat round means that a generic could TL an Ace easier also. It's throwing good points out with the bad, but you could use ordinance with this quite nicely. Slap Guidance Chips on with Extra munitions and your choice of torpedo.

On a contracted scout this ends up at 34+Torp. Little steep but very neat. It's a good blocker to boot (low PS large ship).

The next question is who to guard. Perhaps Serissu with Swarm Tactics. Maybe Palob. How about Cobra or Guri? Firespray?

Definitely not a top table combo but certainly fun.

R4 Argomech only works when attacking :(

the only thing body guard gained from this wave is more upgrade cards to be buried under

R4 Argomech only works when attacking :(

Drop the ordinance and it still works decently.

I dunno I think Bodyguard could be ok on a RecSpec Manaroo 'guarding' Dengar or another higher level Jumpmaster.

Give the other ship all the stuff (like Gonk and Punishing One) so the enemy go for it, then give it extra green and all your tokens to protect it. And giving it all your tokens means it can use it's action to regen with Gonk instead.

But, I think for the same points (but an extra slot) Attanni Mindlink works a little better.

Eventually I'll find golden combo.

Good luck, your gonna need it

I dunno.

I could really use that on a Luke+Jan/VI build.

You can fly:

Serissu with Palob - bodyguard - for a defensive escort to a fat ship

The generic Jumpmaster with Recon Spec may be the best Bodyguard in the game so far. He's the lowest PS Scum pilot with an EPT so he can use Bodyguard on almost everything but the cheapest Generics. Recon Spec lets him keep a token for his own use after activating Bodyguard. The Contracted Scout with Body Guard and Recon Spec comes out to 30 points. Spend another point for a Tactical Jammer to be able to provide another green die. Toss on R5-P8 and you are giving you opponent a tough choice, do you shoot at the dangerous ship with the extra green die or two? Or do you you shoot at the easier to hit ship that may

cause some damage to target.
