New at Dash + Corran - Advice on how to fly this?

By MAVERlCK, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey everyone,

Still fairly new here. I did a first SC last week with BBBZ and did fairly well. However, managing that list through 5 rounds gave me a massive headache over the course of the day. As I'm heading into another SC this weekend, I thought I'd go something completely different and hopefully easier on the brain power that will be needed through the day.

Dash Rendar (36) + Predator (3) + Outrider (5) + HLC (7) + Recon Specialist (3) = (54)

Corran Horn (35) + VI (1) + EU (4) + FCS (2) + R2-D2 (4) = (46)

I'm mainly looking for tips on how to approach my matches. Opening strategy, asteroid placement, flying, target prioritization, etc... Don't be shy! :D

I looked at flying a build similar to this. I found it requires a lot higher skill than I possess. I love Coran but he seems to get focused down a lot. People don't like seeing him on the board, and a larger squad can take him out quickly.

I know this type of build was a huge part of the meta once but I just don't believe in it.

VI/FCS Corran is begging to be destroyed and Dash sans Engine is a Dash I'd personally like to face. I'm a huge Dash player personally and I think bringing Corran just makes either ship way too weak.

I agree with Donnie as well that there's nothing really forgiving about this list at all and I think BBBBZ might actually be less of a headache. In this current meta I find that Dash has to be flown insanely well to have a chance against the pillars of the meta.

It's something to fly for the fun of it or against a new player.

You guys are making a strong case. I'm all for the ''fly what you'll have fun flying'' saying but I know myself and if I'm going out there with a sub-par squad, I won't have fun.

I'll probably keep Coran but go with something along those lines:

Coran Horn (35) + PTL (3) + EU (4) + FCS (2) + R2-D2 (4)
Dagger Squadron Pilot (22) + FCS (2)
Dagger Squadron Pilot (22) + FCS (2)

Will fly Coran as a flanker and keep the B's in tight formation.

That's not bad. I just don't feel like Bs are worth their points. Not to mention taking down Coran means giving up a LOT of points for a small ship

Just a suggestion

Coran

FCS, R2-D2

Warden Squadron Pilot

TLT

Warden Squadron Pilot

TLT

The Ks are super beefy and can pack a punch of flown together
