Starting to worry...

By Spaceman91, in X-Wing

1. There are things called "power stances". You look like an absolute chucklehead but it pumps you up.

2. Honestly, do some exercise, pushups, weights, etc and then feel your guns. The endorphins are incredible and you'll feel powerful.

3. Recall things you wrote which you're proud of. Forum posts, academic papers, articles, anything. Re-read them and bathe in your own awesomeness.

4. Chew gum at the event. Your brain associates the eating action with being in a safe place. Calms you down.

5. On the day, keep open body stance and be confident. Have a joke or 2 up your sleeve. Say 'Hey, how are you doing?" to a bunch of random people. People mistake confidence with competence and it intimidates them.

All of these are proven psychological tricks that will make you invincible.

Oh .. and only roll hits and crits!

Thank you everyone. I don't feel anywhere near as bad after reading your posts.

just Curious.... which tourney are you going to?

Town called Reading

UK?

There's a tournament in Reading this weekend?

Dammit Valentine's day.

Yep. Luckily I'm pathetic and alone ;)

Yep. Luckily I'm having so much fun with my fellow geeks.

Fixed. ;)

Looks like I might be coming after all, if I can get the trains to work out. Maybe see you there.

To the OP...

Stop being a muppet! Lol

The list looks sound, you'll face different players with different list s than you've already played

Fly with luck!

I don't get to play xwing very often, about twice a month, so when I get to go to a tournament I Just look forward to getting in a whole day of xwing. I play for fun. I win some, I lose some, but I always learn a lot and always have fun. If I go not worrying about how well I am going to do and instead just have fun, I surprise myself sometimes with how well I do.

I do some competition shooting as well, that is something I am good at and something I often can win, but i'll tell you this, I do better if I relax and have fun than I do if I go in there all amper up and super focused on every little step in my technique. When I strted looking at a day at the range as just a fun way to do some creative shooting, my scores improved quite a bit

What if you don't get to spend Garven's Focus token?

Wouldn't that be a problem? Would that mess up the synergy you're trying to achieve?

Garven can throw his focus even if you don't modify dice. It's not a problem.

I have my first store tournament tomorrow (Sunday) Also been going crazy (fairly new player) with different lists etc, so yes, nerves expected.

Last night (my only chance to practice) tried 3 T65's with Wedge with R5P9, Wes with R2D2 for their abilities to affect opponent, and Garven to hopefully pass focus tokens. It all went fairly pear shaped against 2 B's and an E, experienced player, group motormouth yakyakyaking in my ear about 70's gaming, forgot to use droids, forgot to use Wedge and Wes abilities, flew badly (nerves and gobbit putting me off, till I asked him to take his mouth elsewhere or shut up).

However, I know what went wrong, I found out what some of the update cards etc do, and I'm gauranteed 4 game tomorrow. I don't actually care whether I win or lose, in X wing, Dust or 40K, as long as I'm having fun and learning.

Your licky, I'm married and mine is actually on the 14th, she's not happy. Bought her a big box of chocolates to soften the blow......

First problem, there's no HWK.

Second problem, posting the list you're taking to tournament and then wondering why anyone else who goes to the same tournament after reading your post totally destroys you.

Third, don't worry. It's just a game with toy plastic spaceships that we go "pew pew" with.
