While I believe in the "Do what the card says" rule, many others seem to be going off that rule and putting words and assumptions in to the trigger of the Boba Fett crew card.

" After performing an attack..."

This says to me that after an attack, any attack, that deals a face up damage card, I can trigger boba.

Others think it that it has to be the ship that Boba is on that attacks to trigger Boba. i would say with good reasons, though i do not believe it to be true.

What do you think? Yes it is an unreleased card, and yes we can wait for the FAQ, but I have a tourney coming soon and there is a good chance wave 8 could be out by that time. So I need proxy practice.

Not a chance. That would mean dudes like backstabber confer +1 attack to all friendlies etc etc.

You left out a very important piece of his text.

"...you may discard this card..."

In X-Wing "You" always refers to the ship in question (see the FAQ). So only the ship which has Boba (and performs the attack) may discard him when his ability is triggered.

So only the ship which has Boba can trigger his effect to discard an upgrade, not just any ship which causes a face up card via an attack.

Compare this with the Emperor's text

"Once per round, you may change a friendly ship's die result to any other die result. That die result cannot be modified again."

You can see the difference. One obviously allows you to use it with "other friendly ships" and the other, Boba, only says

"you may discard this card to choose"

TLDR: You is the ship, not the player. If you keep that in mind, these questions become obvious.

I think even if you didn't realize YOU was the ship not the player, you couldn't expect that much utility out of a 1 pt card.

Although you may end up dealing a damage card, bombs are not considered an attack (as Vorpal points out), and it is an attack that is needed to trigger Boba Fett.

It always applies to the ship the card is on unless it specifically says otherwise. This is cut and dry. Ship that Boba is on. Case closed.

This card seems pretty clear to me, has to be the ship bobaia ridding in.

Frankly I don't even think it needs an FAQ as its that straight forward.

Boba Fett's card does not precise a friendly ship and the "you" makes reference to the ship carrying Boba Fett.

I 100% agreewth this. Full metal wingman you are definitely the one over thinking and complicating this card.

An attack is very specific, it is not any effect that deals out damage.

There are MANY cases where no attacks occur but a ship is damaged - its even possible to lose a ship that has Stealth Device on it without even losing Stealth Device in the first place.

Attacks are attacks.

Effects that cause damage are not attacks.

Read the rulebook then come back if you still have questions.
